11:1 compression will be max for pump gas depending on the cam , The MP .509 cam is a beast no power below 3000 rpm & the top end is unknown , it was still pulling hard @ 7500 rpm
the 950 Holley will be Ok for a stock displacement 440 as long as you are looking at 7000 RPM intended use , I was able to use a 1050 cfm on my race 440 using the 590 / 312 duration cam & revving to 7000 rpm but you need a lot of head flow to make power past that . I believe you get better bang for the $$ with the Proform carbs .
I guess the real question if you are using a 440 Source crank & rods anyway why not go to 512 ci & reduce the piston & rod weight & increase the displacement & torque .
The M1 is a great intake & you have the option to use the 4500 M1 with the Dominator carb also .
I feel you should be able to find a better cam , I was using Lunati Custom ground .906 lobe profiles with more lift , less duration & wider powerband making similar power with more bottom end drivability & fatter midrange so you didn't have to beat up the parts revving as high .
550 gross hp should be easy should be able to get around 600 or more . I was running 118 MPH in a 3400 lb Duster with a similar combo but using only 516 production iron heads
