sooo, looking at my shifter made me wonder.... how is the handle itself installed?  :clueless:  Am I able to unbolt it from the shifter if needed to?  I made this custom console and had to remove the round knob when installing it... this one is a tad bigger....   Won`t be a problem since I won`t use the console, but it made me wonder how it works.
How`s progress on production...?    :bigshades: :burnout:

Only kidding guys :thinkerg:

I did think about that in advance :grinyes:
This is what i came up with, i will supply the shifter as an assembly and the main arm is all part of the shifter assembly and maintenance free, i designed the top part of the handle underneath the grip to come apart to allow the shifter assembly to be fitted as you would the original shifter mechanism, and then guide the console over the shifter handle in place, once the console is in place you can then fit the other pieces of the handle which is held together with countersunk allen key socket head bolts, then the fitting of the grips over the handle section will finish off the assembly :clapping:
I also had a request from another person about the handle assembly, and we got to talking and that lead me to making the top two parts hollowed out to save on wieght, this was a stroke of genious as i was a little worried about the top heaviness of the handle, this solved all of that, and i think it has personalized my shifter some more and it looks kind of sexy, not that anyone can see it once the grip is in place :lol2: unless someone had a clear perspex grip  :dunno: not sure how this would work or not

I will be jumping on a plane this Friday to have a meeting with my laser cutter and go over a few things to get things rolling, i will have more of an idea as to where we will be at in production soon. I have the chromer lined up and the engraver is all booked, so it is getting closer :2thumbs:

I have a Mopar Nationals event at Hethcote Dragway Victoria on this weekend also that i will be attending.

Thanks for the interest and questions

Thanks,
HEMIKEN
Kenny.

Hey Bart, So glad you are liking what you are seeing mate.  :2thumbs: The Demo/Protoype is a little rough, i had to do this cut out as a last minute thing for the laser cutter to have something to copy from.

UPDATE:

I had a meeting with my laser cutter and he said he will have samples cut out this coming next week for me to have a look at, he will post them up to me to see if i like what he will do. It was a good meeting and very promising, he was enthusiastic to help and wanted them right also, very good sign. A step in the right direction i would say :2thumbs:

Thanks,
HEMIKEN

Here are some pictures of an A-body console with one of my Prototype A&B-body shifters to check for clearance and fitment. :2thumbs:
The fit and travel are awesome and very comfortable, even in an A-body, the shifter is still not quite comfortable enough at the reach it is to use in stock form, this is the reason i have made each style of shifter easy and comfortable to use. I will have to post a picture with a person seated to show the ease of reach and the necessaty of the arm being this length.

Update:
I talked to the laser cutter and he has done half of the CAD drawings as of last Friday when i called him to check on progress :jumping:

Doesn't that right hand drive car screw up your pistol grip handles? That thumb grip is stall on the left side. Don't you need new ones for the left hands?

The way I was going to make my pistol grip shifter control an Auto trans was to use a B&M "quick-click" ratchet shifter hidden under the console and 4-speed hump. The handle is always in the set position then is pulled back then forward for each shift detent move out of park, all the way down to first, then moved the opposite way to return to park.  Slamming it forward only allowed one gear change at a time before springing back to the home position. Making the bezel show the proper gear would have taken some creative fabricating though. I thought that I would make a spring loaded string pull-type like the GMs use for their dash gear indicators.

This way, the handle is always in the proper vertical position and never pointing forward like your "park" position.  I ended converting all to a true 4-speed setup.  It's really worth it in the end.

I only showed this grip for the advantage of American viewing purposes. I do have right hand drive grips in fiberglass and also in Wood, hand carved by Roy282 Rob, and they are amazing.

Rob does do right hand drive, he carved this one with his FEET :faint:

Only joking, but this is the grip i will be running in my 68 Dodge Dart Sedan delivery - right hand drive pictured above interior.

I love the colour and finish he did on this grip, it is totally awesome. Thank you Rob Roy282
