who makes dual exhaust to use with facotry rear sway bar
« on: November 23, 2013 - 11:31:27 PM »
Team,
I have been looking around for a good dual exhaust system in 2 1/2", prefer stainless for a 1973 Cuda. TTI state their dual system wont work on a Cuda with a factory rear sway bar fitted and that a behind the diff bar is required. Snyone know of any good dualo systems that will work, I will be fitting TTI headers so will need collector flang back

It is pretty much a given that an exact repro hemi exhaust would fit as they were 2-1/2" and those cars came with a rear sway. Only thing you would have to do is adapt to the header collectors at the front. Also don't know how much $$$$ we are talking for this exhaust setup. I used a kit that came out of Vancouver, BC, Canada that was a not so perfect fit in front of the mufflers but behind and around the sway bars were perfect with no mods needed from muffler to exhaust tips.

I'm using a stainless Magnaflow system 2 1/2" works/sounds great not too loud until you get on it. I have the Hotchkiss rear sway bar and it mounts different than the stock one.

I have a 1973 cuda with a factory sway bar and a 2 1/2 TTI X pipe system installed. No issues with the sway bar and plenty of clearance.

Thanks guys, yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me either, maybe they have their little numbered notes mixed up, I could see a possible issue with the 3" pipes. I know it seems a minor issue but living in Australia we cant just pack it back up and run it back to the store for exchange so I need to be 100% on what im doing before I commit to buy.
I love how the factory pipes sound and would like to upgrade to stainless and new. Just hope that whatever I buy will sound similar.
does anyone have any comment on which one might sound close to stock, Brad, which Magnaflow muffler are you using and does it drone? EDL94, which mufflers did you use and does it drone?

The TTI kit came with Dinomax mufflers it is loud and drones but does sound badass going down the street. I would go with something a little quieter.

thanks EDL 94, I wonder if that kit combined with something like the rear mufflers like the OEM's would take the drone out

I don't notice any drone. I have no idea what part # the muffler is as it all came in a kit. I bought an extra mandrel bent  U bend to fabricate one side slightly to line up with the header. No a big deal. :2cents:

Ok, So, Magnaflow only list their Stainless Steel X pipe system to fit 70-72 Cuda, Im thinking if it fits a 72 then it should fit a 73??????

So I call them, yep, completly clueless. answer was, yeah, I dont know, cant tell you sorry. also asked if they made SS header adaptors, same answer, yeah we dont make that stuff.

Magnaflow support sucks.

Yes I believe the same kit does all years of e-body's.  As far as the header adapters go they came with the headers, not stainless but neither is the header. I bought a stainless mandrel U bend somewhere else...

Yes, it's an old thread but I'd like to hear from more people, especially crash340.

Just ordered a  2 1/2 inch, H-pipe, TTi exhaust for my car. I also have plans of putting in a factory rear sway bar. Other than edl94 does anyone else have a TTi exhaust and factory rear sway bar and experience any or no problems.

Thanks...John

I ran in to that question a while ago, I got a (not mounted yet) FF sway bar, same type as stock, and TTI 2,5" X-pipe system, it does list the system as incompatible, but after asking around, both FF, here, and a good Mopar shop, everyone says it works fine. It will be interesting to get the stuff on the car soon. Ceramic coated headers (shortys) on a 340.
