Welcome to C-C-com

No production numbers were kept by color
Here's where one sold for 74K..Just below it I see that the 71 auto brought more  :dunno: ...condition is a big factor,

In 1970, Plum Crazy was one of the most popular high impact colours.  Chrysler never kept records of how many cars had both options....By that I mean
You can find out how many 440+6 Challengers there were, and you can find out how many FC7 Challengers there were, but you CAN NOT find out how many 440+6 Challengers were purple. It's safe to assume...A LOT.

Think of this...Of ALL 1970 Challenger R/T's 3856 were painted Plum Crazy....That's well over double of the next closest colour which was Burnt Orange at 1708 R/T's

Having a FC7 1970 Challenger is a curse in the collector's market.

Fully restored your car may fetch $75K on a good day, but that's not very likely. You're most likely in the $50K-$60K range. :2cents:

Welcome to the site and that's a nice car! Would you put up some pics of it? As for the value, Alan rebuilds and sells these things all the time and far be it for me to second guess him on the value.

Since I know what you paid I'm not going to guess on price, but I will say you got a great deal even with the small accident damage...... and I was really close to buying your car.  Not often does one find a real running / driving V code for what you paid.  You did great on that car!   :clapping:

As for the colors, I was told by Galen (not sure if it's true or not) but he said more Challengers were painted Plum Crazy in 1970 than any other color.  For Cuda's FE5 red was the most common color.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Looks like you got yourself one very solid car. Whether you keep it black or restore it to it's former glory I guess will depend on how deep you want to get. :dunno:

You'll never make any profit by doing a correct 100% resto, but at least it looks good enough to drive as is  :burnout:

Good looking car  . I am thinking that to personalize it and make it different would be to do a reverse of the paint scheme, just put a Plum Crazy Bumble Bee stripe on it for now and drive it and enjoy it :2thumbs:
