Radio Opening
« on: November 27, 2013 - 01:09:55 PM »
Previous owner installed a headunit that is now trash. When I pulled the headunit, the opening looks has a slot for the single DIN then a smaller slot below, I'm assuming this was originally an 8 track? The previous headunit was just sitting there, not fully supported. Is there a different plastic panel that will insert behind the radio bezel trim to fit a single DIN radio? If so can someone please point me in the direction of a supplier.

Nothing fits well , the opening is similar to a single din but the trim panel curves over the end  of it you can carve out the din opening & move it away from the trim slightly or notch the trim to clear , E bodys had a unique radio that fits nothing else , the 71 Charger Roadrunner had a unique radio also .

This radio panel that 4C posted up is the generic part used on all radio fitments from factory, they did it this way to allow a standard radio to fit and when you have an 8 track the bezel is recessed to allow viewing and access to the lower 8 track section. The only radio panel that was different from what 4C posted is the 1970-71 Challenger panel that is the same with ribs and then ther was a radio delete panel that had no access hole at all for a radio fitment. :2thumbs:
