" I have a 1970 very nice driver Buick stage 1. All original w/new paint & carpet, headliner 3 years ago. Tripple brown th400 auto floor shifter. She's a real nice all matching #'s car and actually books for way more than the challenger I think."

Did they make a 1970 Stage 1 with a 400, I thought it was a 455?

I think he's saying that it's a turbohydramatic 400 trans.

For being the most accurate clone the guy could make, it's not very accurate. The tires are wrong and the drivers side mirror that's seen pretty clearly in the movie is wrong as far as I can tell. It's just a stock chrome adjustable, and not the rectangle pep boys special that's in the movie. If it sells for what he's asking I'm going to throw some white on my $20,000 Challenger and sell it for $100,000 more.

Sorry,
Yes 455 stage 1 engine, turbo hydromatic tranny. I've been looking for a nice 70 for a while now to do a VP clone.
I don't want a project. I'm not a body man. I've paid out enough to them.
I would like something turnkey.Even a decent repaint can be costly. If the owner of this clone wants to trade I'll pull the trigger and have a nice car, maybe to nice!
I'm just waiting to hear back from the owner. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again,

Bill

The script used to be available online a few years back, it wasn't very long. 3 of the 4 cars used were manuals with 440's, the 4th was a 383 auto which was used mainly for the outside camera shots. The auto was the only car to be in reasonable condition at the end of the movie, it also towed the Camero into the bulldozer blades at the end. A prostitute actually took off in the 383 car at the finish of the film and the crew had to go find it.  The 4 cars were all different colors originally but painted white, in different scenes you can see damage appear and disappear, green even shows through on one desert scene.
Chrysler supplied 1970 models but were not happy as the 1971 model was on sale when the movie was released (check posters) and that and the fact 3 of the 4 cars were basically write-offs was the reason they were all crushed.
Drugs were being introduced into movies around this time unfortunately and so was nudity, the naked girl on the bike was actually the wardrobe lady for the film, liked her wardrobe for that scene.
Dave

She is in the garage with the other movie cars.  The owner wanted a car he could drive.  This car is a trailor queen and by far the best i have ever seen.  Well he now has a nice driver 1970 Buick stage 1 and this trailor queen is becoming a driver. These cars are meant to be driven.
Here are a couple photo's.
Thanks,
Bill

These cars are meant to be driven.

Words to live by. My mother used to say that when I finished the car I was going to keep it in a garage surrounded by velvet ropes. I always told her "I'm gonna drive it like I stole it."

No not an even trade, there was a little cash involved.  I was more than comfortable with the deal we came up with.  I have been working on this deal for about a year.  The owner fell in love with the 1997 my classic car episode with the stage 1 that I sent him.  My car looked just like it but mine had the floor shifter.  We are both very happy.  I never in my wildest dreams thought one year ago at his asking price that I would own this car and all the movie stuff  involved. You never know it doesn't hurt to try and try I did for 1 year.
Thanks,
Bill
