116 in a 91 caprice cop car,

do the math crusining from Seattle to Helenda, MT 600 miles we were going around 75 - 80 through washington 300 miles and we made it the in just over 7 hours. Id say around high 120's

118 in a 96 Indy ram, rev/gov limited , 95 in traffic in a 97 STS

around 600mph in a Airliner give or take

About 120 in the Richard Petty driving Experience. 600+hp car on 1 mile oval track in Orlando. :driving:

Riden: 160 in a friend's Porsche '86 924

Both back when I was young and fearless. My daughter is just learning how to drive. I believe I'll withhold this information from her.

140 in my old 69 Charger back when I was in high school. I also took a GMC General with a 400 Cummins up to 105, without a trailer of course.

Top speed is 115 mph in my "70 440 6 pack Charger (the car in my avatar).

Late night cool air and 6 miles of plum straight road with no obstructions.

I think it pissed of the kid driving the Honda when I waved good-bye through the sunroof.

In retrospect it wasn't a very smart thing to do, but it was a lot of fun at the time

Unfortuanately, I don't have a fast car now. (see previously mentioned reference to children). My current mopar is a Dodge pickup. My interest in Cudas and Challengers goes back to 1970 when our neighbor bought a AAR. Just haven't owned one yet. Found the board since I'm in the early stages of looking for one. Early stages being I'm trying to convince my wife it's a good idea!

Plan B is buying my brother's AAR clone when he finds the right AAR. (He is looking for an AAR without an engine since he has the correct TA engine and six pack)

By the way the fastest my wife has driven is 115 mph in her '79 Corvette. Turns out it was on the same stretch of road that I had my IROC topped out on, but a few years apart. The fastest my daughter has driven is 45 mph in a '98 Dakota - with her dad saying, "Slow down."

IIRC, You can bypass the speed limiter and put the truck into "Testing" mode by turning the key and holding it in the "Engine Start" position while driving. The starter itself is locked out and won't spin and you'll have some guages shut off but the limiter is disabled until you let the key return to the "Run" position. I did that on my 99 Dak (5.2/AT) and got it up to 125. Be carefull if you try it because you'll have one hand on the wheel and the other on the key to do this.

I've been 125-130 in a 318/AT 70 Chally, 120 ish in a 98 Ford Taurus SHO (speedo drops to Zero when you pass 115) and my all time best was on my 99 Yamaha R6 which I had almost topped out at 175 (Ran out of safe room on the road so I backed down).

i have heard of turning the ignition, i've tried it before when i was going slower to see what would happen and the speedo dropped. Figured that i didnt really need to be going over 115 anyway, or even 115. Also a bit nervous about having one hand on the wheel going that fast.

I did very close to 170 in my 03 cobra mustang, bypassed top speed limiter, and got there very fast, it does the 1/4 in 10.9 sec 126 mph , it would of gone alot faster, but i chickend out!!!!

well the fastest i have driven is about 118 in my old 88 toyota 2wd lowrider pickup, not riced just lowered.
i also hit about 118 in my first car 74 olds cutlass supreme
riding on the back of a cycle we hit 115 and i told him to slow the *^&& down, i dont like not being in control on the back of a bike, was a 85 750 honda shadow
riding in a car, not driving, was a 74 newport, land barge, the speedo went to 120 and he had more to go but ran out of space but when he let off the needle didnt come back into view for over a mile of coasting, we estimated around 150 but dont know for sure

I put my 2001 Z06 up over 160 on a stretch of very nice highway comming out of Rolla, Mo about three years ago. It was early in the morning and heading back to Kansas City with one of my fraternity brothers who partied a little to hard the night before. He was somewhat sleeping in the passenger seat until we got to this stretch of road that is straight, slightly decending, and a new area in the highway (you can see for about three miles and no traffic what so ever). He notices the road and wakes up a little bit and looks over to me and just says "Engage!" It was pretty funny because this guy is a huge Star Trek geek and was seriously hung over. Anyway, it was sweet. We got up to 160 a lot quicker than I expected and around 140 it got a little loud from the air going around the car, but it was smooth like being on ice. :driving:

I don't make a habit of doing that, but once in a while when the conditions are nice, I can't resist. :dontknow:
