Went 130-135 in my '73 Challenger. There was more speed in it but the car was starting to feel unstable, kind of floating so I backed off. Ebodies have power and looks, but not aerodynamics.

125'ish twice, once in my 1980 LeBaron (318, 2.74's) and again in a 1989 Chevy Corsica with the 2.8 MFI.

Suprising power in that car... :dunno:

I disagree , with the alignment set properly they are stable at speed , I prefer manual steering though as the power is just too over powered

Man, I would love to go 200 MPH.  That sounds like a blast.

Don't worry, after you get a mopar you can always talk the wife into another rocket!

2 ANSWERS for me:

In the early to mid 90s I went got into the 7s at around 165 to 170. Chevy though, does it count?

I also had a 72 Challenger with a '66 Hemi in it. I went some 10.0s with it a few times but mostly drove around town. Its "the one that got away", and is why I am building me another Mopar. I just love em. I will get some pics converted for both of the cars, they are all on 35mm. Wow, I am getting old..

Now for the big speed......In March of this year I entered the Texas 200mph club on my bike. I went 206mph and 204 mph on my 08 Hayabusa, naturally aspirated, in a standing mile from a dead stop. I hurt the motor before I could spray it. I wanted to take the record for the fastest NOS bike at 228mph, but it was bumped up to 235 last month and my wife said thats enough, so I sold it to fund the Cuda.

I felt the same thing around the same speed in my 71.  I figured it to be the bias ply tires. I wonder what it would of been like with a nice z-rated tire.
I beat the supra though.

In 1972 with my Super Bee 140, also the same year hit a curb on a country road in Iowa at 100 mph slide sideways forever, had to flat tires as dirt jambed up between the bead and rim. Always ran her 100 plus back and forth home to Ft Leonard Wood.

1973 buddies lined 3 abreast on bypass Gremlin X, 72 vette 350, 71 Challenger RT/SE 440-6.  Took off the Vette and Challenger with Challenger flyin ahead till it hit 140, slowly the vette caught up at 155 the Gremlin X... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back.

The Challenger was bought for $2500 in 72 :( sold in 74 for $1500 and yes it had a shaker and 4spd. Wish I knew were it was now.

30 odd years ago in a slant 6 Valiant ute. What you blokes would call a dart pickup I guess.
was at an illegal race meeting.Had pipes down, carbs riched to the max,new plugs, aircleaner off, etc.
The law turned up.
I did a runner.
Cop cars then were 6cyl Ford Falcons that topped out at 96mph due to emissions strangulation.
Was 4speed with 2.92 rear and 24" tyres. It maxed out at 5800rpm in top gear. Was way off the end of the speedo but at the time I worked it out to abt 140mph.
Road ended abt ten miles up so i just hid in the scrub.
Temp guage rose pretty quick too :blah:

For me, it was in my '94 Viper. I often would go into the 140-150 range. Once I went flat out and pinned the the 180 mph speedo.

Hoping to do the same with the Cutlass next summer, followed by the Barracudas when they're done.

So far, I have gotten the SRT-4 up to 109 in the 1/4 mile. Thunder Road (Red River Raceway) near Shreveport, Louisiana.

On public roads, I have reached 145 (230 kph). My typical speed is 110 (175 kph) on the unlimited parts of the Autobahn. It kills my gas mileage, but increases the smile factor. I probably won't go past 150 considering 160-165 would be maxing out 5th gear.

SPEEDY - 200MPH on a bike is insane!! I prefer the comfort of 4 wheels and protection of a car shell...even if it is a minimal one like the neon.

I am currently building a BIG turbo Busa for the mile in March. I think it will run 250mph+. 630 HP motorcycles, gotta love 'em.
