update....i just went 145 in an 03 gt mustang in mid 4th gear...the guy didnt want to go any faster with the windows down...it wasnt stock of course....borla exhaust, k&n cold air intake, hooker long tube headers, bigger injectors...and oh yea a kenne belle supercharger. its not a mopar....but what a ride

In '08 my son and I participated in the Atlantic City Toys for Tots Corvette Rallye. They shut down the A.C. expressway for this event and let the Vettes out in small groups. I saw 110 and 120 on the speedometer. When I had the opportunity to go faster I kept my eyes on the road. So when we got into Atlantic City I checked my GPS for the highest speed and it said I did 146mph. We were in our '03 50th Anniv convertible, with the top down. We had a great time and would have done it again this year but the weather was questionable, maybe next year.

A couple years ago my wife and I had to go to Dallas so she gave me a gift cert to the Texas Motor Speedway to drive a cup car. Did 165 in the old cartoon network cup car with a instructor in the passenger seat. Awesome feeling going into a turn that fast knowing it would stick.

It's either 140 in an 03 vette or in a modified 83 z28 HO.  The reason I'm not sure is that the speedometer on the z28 stopped around 125 and I kept the hammer down a good while longer with it pulling the whole way.  The fastest I've ever been in a car was as a passenger in a 69 Super Bee back in the mid 70's.  The speedo hit the metal stop @ 155 MPH and like the z28 we rolled down the road a good ways more with the engine still pulling before the driver lifted.  Not so cool thing at the time was the fact that we were driving at night and when he lifted off the gas, the thing backfired enough to light up both sides of the road!!    Nothing like a big block Mopar with the standard highway gear!!

Thanks, the other part I just remembered is that around 140 or so the ride got eerily smooth, almost like we were riding on air.  And as high off the ground as that Super Bee rode on those skinny F70x14's we probably were!

Back in the '60's I followed an early '60 Chev Bel Air with those horizontal fins at around 90 mph, the rear was just floating, I don't know how they could get traction, I backed off as I was sure they were going to loose it.

It was a long open 3 wide stretch on 65N in Indianapolis. I was on my way to drop it off to my buddy who bought it. I always rode fast on the highway... 80-90 anyways. I came around a bend to to a straightaway, hugged the tank and twisted the throttle. It was a really open area so the sense of speed wasn't as strong as a tree lined road. I looked down and it said  156...I let up because my exit was approaching quickly.     I did pulled up when I let off the throttle..man I thought my head was going to get ripped off. It was only a 750..all stock... but damn...that thing was still pulling hard. I would not be surprised if that coulda hit 170. But that would have been excessive.   

Those sport bikes are hell on the back and forearms but that accelerartion is intoxicating.
