I had my barracuda up to 80 to see if it felt sound and to see if the front end felt good in steering. I built the front end (and whole car) my self and the toe with a tape measure, the front end feels good to me. Didnt pull left or right.  I think I was around 3800 rpms.

Don't rightly know.  The speedo in the cuda pegs out at 120mph.
But it certainly was a short ride home...

buried the needle on the speedo (120) in my 'Cuda back in the day.   We both were young ones then.

In my younger days, I was driving home one night down I75 in South Broward in a 73 Challenger going about 90 when I saw a trooper coming the other way and saw him slam on his brakes and swing a u-turn in the median.  Obviously, he noticed my excessive speed and was planning on nailing me.  I figured, okay, I've got about a mile head start, let me see what she can do.  I pegged the gas and buried the speedo.  Not sure how fast I was actually going but it was easily over 110.  Went past the first exit, the road gently curved, I killed my lights and took the next exit.  Made it home  - shaking like a leaf.

The other stupid display of speed I did was in a Porsche 928.  My cousin owned the car and I lived with him.  I had a buddy in from up northa dn we took it for a cruise.  I remember taking an on ramp on I95 in Palm Beach County with my foot into the gas pretty good.  When we hit the open highway, I glanced over at my friend.  He was pale as a ghost.  I said, "what's up?"  He replied, "you just hit that ramp at 120 mph!"  I said, "Feels good doesn't it?"  At that point we decided to hit the Tiki Hut down in the Keys.  I averaged over 110 mph the whole trip down there

There is a story that brings back memories. At one point I had installed an all-light kill switch. This was after I left a cop in the dust then had him find me because I'd left my foot on the brake in my little hidey hole  :grinno:

BAck in the day my car was usually about 7 different colors, and all the redneck cops in my home town thought of me as an easy target ("What do you mean your lights aren't out? SMASH Now they are.") Now when I see a cop they was to ask me ABOUT the car. I guess there is some good in getting older.

I have to add mine.
148 in my 98 Trans Am Ram Air.

I was racing a Mercedes two seater in San Luis Valley, Colorado. Smoked him.  We raced for about 60 miles.  Finally took him real good in the canyon after the valley.
  Great fun!!

Now all I need is a Viper so I can go faster!!

That's funny.  I know the feeling.  I've actually been pulled over before because the cop wanted to ask me about my car.  First time it happened was when I was 19 or hanging out on the Fort Lauderdale beach strip.  The officer that "pulled me over" actually had a Challenger in his garage as well and just wanted to talk Mopar.  That day forward, I ended up having "parking priveleges"  on the strip      Turns out he was friend with my cousin ( a BSO officer) and then my cousin ended up buying his car.   20 some odd years later, I haven't gotten a ticket since 1991 or so but have been pulled over at least a dozen times by Mopar loving cops...
