Dash speaker
« on: November 28, 2013 - 01:58:26 PM »

I was wondering what folks experiences with this speaker has been:
http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/details/id/68

I'm about to put the dash back in the car in one piece and want to put the speaker in before I do so. Heck I'd love to hear any music out of one of these speakers if anyone has some vids.

Thanks!
Bryan

Be careful about the depth of the speaker. I have one like that in my 70 challenger dash. The first one I got was too deep for the hole. I had to get a shallow version to fit the hole. I don't remember where I finally got the right one, but I will check the receipts when get back to the shop on Saturday.

Added: I'll also check the dimensions.

Rated for some stout power, 90watt RMS 160 Max...you would not get much sound from a stock radio which I think was rated at less than 5watts :2cents:

:iagree: When I put that one in I added new speakers in the back and this radio to keep the original look to the car.

Depth on that one is good. Definately shallow enough to fit down in the hole.

Just bought this sucker and will report back when I install it in the dash - then the dash goes into the car!

The hole in the dash is offset a little. If you have problems try lifting the speaker a little to check for a short. When we first fired up the radio after getting everything installed there was no sound coming from the front or back speakers. The problem was fixed by enlarging the offset hole under the dual cone front speaker a little.

Thanks for the pointer Toxic I'll keep an eye out.

I'm hoping this goes smooth and I'll even put the wiring in there before the dash goes in.

Well I finally got it and was impressed by the packing and all the do-dads you get with it.

Besides the fact that it slips right in place with no problem!!!
