I put one from a 70 onto a 73 back in 1973. That was a long time ago but I remember it being really easy. You will need a regular or locking cap to go on the tube. I seem to remember the flip top just screwing into place with no problem. If I'm wrong someone will correct me. :clueless:

That was my assumption, but I had contacted a vendor about one and he told me "you will have to find or modify an actual filler tube cap". Does that mean I'll just have to find a working gas cap?

Yes, you will need a regular gas cap not the one you currently have.

Well that was pretty obvious due to it's size.  :) I guess sometimes you have to state the obvious to folks though.

Recommendations on who to get one from? I've did a search and saw some folks less then happy with the chrome work on their cap from xxx. So who sells the best quality flip top? I noticed Roseville's shows it comes with a trim ring on their site. Didn't see that listed as included on others.

You also need a gasket under the trim ring
