69 barracuda guage problem. HELP!
« on: April 07, 2005 - 06:04:13 AM »
Repairing some damaged and missing wiring for a friend in a 69 barracuda. The power feed for the guages was cut and missing along with some others. Got everything repaired  and working. The guages read incorrect. New sending units since the old ones would not read. Now the oil pressure maxes out as soon as it gets pressure. Temp does the same as soon as the engine begins to warm up. Double checked the application and I did install the senders for guages not lights. My question is this. Is this car supposed to have a instrument cluster regulator? Our parts catalogs at work do not show one for this year cuda. It seems to skip a few years around 68 to 70. I have one for a 70 or 71 but can not figure out where it belongs since the wiring pigtails were cut off of some connectors at the cluster. I assume that it would go inline on the guage power feed. Does the base need to be grounded? Where is it mounted on  the back of the cluster? I really could use some help from some Mopar guys. I know just about all if not all chryslers used these regulators. Thank you.Lenox273@yahoo.com

Yeah Guys,
It sounds like that voltage regulator/limiter may be crapped out. Too much juice to the goose.  :madvibe:

Thanks guys. I figured it needed one. Now, where does it mount on the back of the cluster and what is it connected to? I realize it goes inline on the power supply side, but where after that? I have seen in my search for answers that the fuel guage may have a regulator built in to it. Anyone got a pic of their cluster or a spare one? Again, thank you.
