    Oh man...I went out into the garage today and popped the rad cap off the cuda and there is slush in the rad.   :swear: :banghead:

    So any suggestions other then fire it up, let it warm up, drain the rad and add some antifreeze??? 

    Oh and of course watch for a leaks and hope for the best.

     :22yikes:  Bummer, I think as long as it just slush, there should be any damage.  Can you put a heater in the garage, and warm up the rad to melt the slush. Then start the car bring it up to temputure and drain it then refill with a 50/50 antifreeze to water.

    I's just start it up and watch the temp gauge close and if it goes higher than the thermostat then shut it off and let the heat soak into the coolant for 15 minutes or so then start it up again and repeat if necessary. Feel the rad to make sure it's warm  I've had that happen in a daily driver years ago when the rad froze.
    I'm sure you will be fine! Just change out the coolant as you said.

    The auto parts store usually sell magnetic pan heaters that turn on and off on to maintain a temp. They also sell ones that go into the dipstick. I would buy one of those if I lived in freezing conditions

    The magnetic ones are nice, you just slip them into your pocket, but the dipstick ones really warm you up,they are just a pain to insert and make you walk a bit funny!

    Don't forget to put some fuel stabilizer in the tank while you're at it and make sure you run it long enough to open the thermostat and circulate the antifreeze through the whole system. Crack the door open while you're doing it Jas.

    Just curious, before draining it I wonder what strength it's at now that it got slushy.  :clueless:

    Ok crisis averted, I think.

    A little choke and it fired right up...let it run for a bit, drained the rad put fresh prestone in the rad, let it run for a bit. 

    Got hot enough to open the thermostat, confirmed on the gage, by feel and visually saw the antifreeze moving in the rad.

    The tester shows good to -35....should be good for the winter now.  I will check it again tomorrow.

    Downside is pissed the wife off...having the car running in the garage that long, you can smell it in the house, not good.

    Don't sweat the dilution, it occurred when the 'stat opened up and introduced the engine to the rad. Just drain 2-3 qts out and top it up with pure and re-run it. Sending the wife out to go shopping might be a ploy here and if you haven't gotten her anything yet for Christmas, you're golden!  :thumbsup:
