MSD filed for bankruptcy/bought out!
« on: December 16, 2013 - 11:47:11 AM »
El Paso, TX; December 16, 2013 -  MSD Performance Group ("MSDP"), one of the world leaders in vehicle aftermarket performance parts, announced today that the company has been acquired by Hot Rod Brands, LLC an affiliate of Z Capital Partners, LLC ("Z Capital"). MSDP sells products under the MSD, Racepak, Powerteq, Edge and Superchips brands. MSDP filed a voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection petition on September 6th of this year.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I wonder if all that fake MSD products that came overseas had something to do with it.  :wavingflag:

I use their ignition box and distributor. They always seemed very helpful with tech support. I once ordered a set of 8mm wires and had the wrong boot for my coil. They sent me a whole bag of boots no charge. Sorry to hear this news!

Ya, there products are pretty much top notch. Can't imagine them disappearing from the scene.
Hopefully they just need better management.

I'm surprised! Long proven products, been around a long time , used by Nascar etc.....
Must be a case of " too many Chiefs and not enough Indians" ?   :dunno:  Hope they work things out.

I use the fully adjustable Mopar dist , both Mech & vac advance can be adjsuted easily , works fine for me  :2thumbs:
I have seen 1/2 dozen of the boxes fail , one customer bought the stand alone dist with no control box , it failed at a car show in another province , $600 tow bill home , at least using Mopar parts you can walk into most parts stores & get a new ECU even if it is a cheap quality one or a new pick up coil & get home

He is not the only one...

I find that so weird as every performance car I've owned since the 80's I've had one and at the track with literally 100's or stock cars never seen or had one one fail? ( Maybe I shouldn't have said anything.... now I've jinxed myself?)
