I have been a member of this site for a few months. I have had conversations with people I have never met and some I never will meet. I have enjoyed the sharing of a common hobby and have gleaned a lot of info from several of you. I thank you all for that.
Although my 1970 Barracuda is 95% done I thought it might be fun to go back and show the various stages of my work and give some background on what I have.
I bought my car when I was 17 years old (30 years ago) in Pendleton Indiana for $1100.00. It had been a 6 cylinder column shift car new, but had a 360SB, 727, 83/4 in it when I purchased it. It was bright orange and ran well. I drove it all through my senior year. I blew the engine doing well over 100mph (see post, how fast have you driven) I thought it would be a perfect time to do a complete rebuild.
We never had a pot to **** in, so I spent a lot of time lying in the gravel, dirt, mud, under plastic tarps and snow to get work done over the years. I completely disassembled the car and took it down to bare metal from front to rear, top to bottom. Replaced both rear frame rails, the complete trunk, front shock towers and complete quarters. I opted to go with a mild 440, 727 and the 8 ¾ for the long haul. I have completed all work except the exterior paint on this car myself. I even sprayed the engine compartment and Jammed it which turned out great. It is a totally new car from top to bottom. I did build it to drive so it is new and clean but not one to put mirrors under. I have owned 2 Barracudas, 1 Cuda and 1 Challenger over the years but always chose to sink the real money in the 70. I will post pictures every now and again as I get the time just so you all can see the various stages of work. I do not have a lot, in fact I have no pictures from the metal working stage or bare metal but I hope you still enjoy.
Ray,
