correct paint names and codes

I'm sending out my parts to paint soon and I need the correct names.

My metal frame for the dash will be red. What finish or paint is used?

Mat Black tail panel colour.

The grill will be Black with Grey (argent?)inserts. Members said to paint the cheese graters a aluminum colour then place face down and spray Black from the back.. 

What brand/colour Black and aluminum do I need?

Since the grille will be Black is that the colour the lower valance grille is painted?

Oh yea...Sorry I never got back to you again.

For the aluminum on the grill sections I use a Krylon "Dull Aluminum" spray bomb.

For the flat black on the grill I used Tremclad Flat Black.

These are available in Canada, not sure about Stateside ?

I also do the tail panel with Tremclad flat black with some special techniques that give it a bit of texture.

You may want to use the more expensive organisol paints available and use a spray gun.

I think "Herb's " will have the red you need for the interior pieces.

Lower valance insert should match the grill (body colour) but some didn't, most came through argent colour.

That's Alan.  I'm over in BC so I have all that stuff available.  The cuda is going to the paint shop to get the damage done by the Canadian boarder agent fixed so I'm getting everything painted by them at the same time

Thanks that helps. Just a few other questions to make sure I do it right.

The rear tail light trim is painted body colour or black on a cuda? Not talking about the tail panel.  Are the chrome pieces that go on the tail lights just chrome or are they painted?

OK, the tail panel on a `Cuda is painted Organosil Black (rough textured Black).
Standard Barracuda has body colour on the tail panel except when coded with M88 (`Cuda Trim) then it also would be Organosil Black.
Barracuda Gran Coupe had a textured Argent Silver tail panel as standard.
The tail lights themselves are painted to match the tail panel area, so a `Cuda with a Organosil tail panel would have matching Organosil Black Tail light surrounds, a Barracuda would have body colour tail light surrounds, and a Gran Coupe would have Textured Argent Silver tail light surrounds, ALL the tail light trim bright work (chrome) stays chrome on every model Barracuda, Gran Coupe and `Cuda.


The side markers are painted body colour front and back, the exception to the rule is when a Billboard is applied (1971 only), then the rear side marker is colour matched to the Billboard colour, say you have a Black Billboard on a White car - the front side marker would be White and the rear side marker with in the Black Billboard will be Black. That means on a Black painted car like yours, if you are applying a Flat Black Billboard, then the side marker will also be Flat Black to match the Billboard.

Yup that helped thanks.  Didnt know about the rear side markers being painted flat black. I know the rear marker housings are different for billboard cars. They say either white or black on the back to indicate what colour the billboard was.
