i bought my dream car! 73 cuda
« on: December 21, 2013 - 11:21:03 PM »
OK guys ive been on the forum for a couple months now asking questions but her goes my car thread. I bought a 73 cuda in September. Everyone who knows im a car guy knows my dream way a cuda since i was 16. Finally got one!

The car: 73 cuda 416(none original motor) with a 4 speed(original)
car  has a 416 stroker all done new with 500 miles on it with j heads and a holley double pumper with a big hydro cam and 355 gears. power brakes(front discs) power steering. none AC .no rear sway bar. front end wiring harness is brand new when bought, it also have aftermarket auto gauge cluster oil, volts, temp and a tach

BODY: needs some tlc its autumn bronze....or S&%T brown which ever u prefer. Rust in rear quarters mostly in front of wheels as usual it needs some body work and a paint job but it is good enough to be tolerable for a year or so. Underneath is amazing. virtually no rust at all other than body. frame is in great shape if you look under it

What i want to do:
This is where i need your expertise. I would like the car to be a weekend car while still being super reliable and i would like to head in the direction of handling and brakes ,suspension etc. I said super reliable for a reason here because i would like to one day take the car across or halfway across the country some day (me and my buddy cruising to nowhere)so comfort and reliability is a must.,i would like to know what you guys think i should be doing first. swaybars? sub frame connectors? leaf spring? shocks? brake upgrade etc

What i have done and need to do:

replaced the old fuse box with a new blade fuse system i made. for ease and reliability

replaced the starter with a high torque mini starter.(New motor original starter...i didnt get it either)

new battery

new turn signal switch, ignition switch, and key lock cylinder

new radio and speaker-subwoofer etc.

i will be getting new nitto 555 tires and rims within a month or 2

i will be getting sound deadening/carpet and new jegs seats with side bolsters and recline for comfort since my buckets are torn and are basically highly uncomfortable

i would like to get a rev limiter also for security....recommendation?  pertronix inner distributor?

The journey begins.....please help i am open to all opinions and questions

Looks real good!  Nice find!   :clapping:
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

For what it's worth. = FWIW

Depends on the final outcome, I run a vac sec carb on mine. It's very street able, Double Pumpers shoot more fuel no matter what when floored. Vac secondary gives it depending on engine vacuum.

Suspension, steering and brakes are a good start.  Do a search for These topics, lots of knowledge.  My car was built for what your looking for.  Has been very reliable for me over the years and have had many road trips over that time.

Hi looks good , you know when some one tells you they brought  there dream car. And you then   know how much it means to them. This in its self keeps the hobby alive  . Here in Australia a few friends have waited and waited until they have found there dream car , and in doing so I think makes it just that  little more special .Well done in finding your car and  I hope you enjoy it ,with a big smile cheers :aussie:
