I am new member an I would like to introduce myself.
« on: December 24, 2013 - 09:47:25 AM »
Hi, I am a new member and I would like to introduce myself. I live in Massachusetts and I have own an AAR Cuda.I have owned this car for over 25 years, and when I bought the car it needed to be restored. It took about 2 1/2 years, not many places were doing reproduction parts for Cudas back then, so I went to a lot of swap meets and that was a lot of fun finding parts that I needed most were NOS. So a lot has changed in the last 25 years, how I would like to upgrade a few thing, like the 43 year old suspension, don't get me wrong for a older car it goes drives very good, but when I go on the highway sometime I go a little to fast and I am afraid something might break. Also I'd like to put something under the carpet so it doesn't get so hot inside in car. I took pictures of the car on Sunday but they're not that good because last week we had a over a foot of snow on the ground and on Sunday it was all most 60 and it was foggy.

Thank You for your Time,  Paul

Hi awesome car. Gotta love a red aar. Can you share some of the options on the car please? I wouldn't mind adding an aar to my garage as well

Welcome to the site. For what it's worth, having worked with older and newer cars, I'd be far more concerned about things breaking on a newer car. Older cars tended to be made with more metal.

Wow that's a real gem! One of what 2000 or so made!

I'd suggest keeping it as factory as possible, inspect the steering and suspension components an possibly kick out the caster in front to help at highway speeds.

If you would like to preserve the value of the car I wouldn't modify the suspension but take a good look at it.

Otherwise go Alterkation crazy!

First I would like to thank everyone for the nice comments about the car. The options on the AAR are bucket seats, T/A power steering and automatic on the floor. I put electronic ignition in it, and that seemed to make a big difference it the way it ran. I also put radial tires on it. A little more about the car - in the mid 90's I was able to drive the car at Lime Rock for a Trans Am anniversary, and that was fun and fast. For a time the car was in the Yankee Candle Car Museum. I started looking for an AAR back in the mid 80's, and I looked at a lot of them, but they all had a lot of rust. Once I even went halfway across the country. After about 3 years I found this one about 30 miles away with very little rust.
