73 cuda 4 speed trans leak quick question.

my original 4 speed trans is leaking from one of the linkage inputs through the side access plate.

My question is: can i get a seal kit and replace the seals in all the linkages and the access plate without removing the transmission?

If it si the later OD yes just remove the lever & use a pick to slide out the O ring , if it is an normal 833 no you have to remove the cover which is easy But putting it back on while lining up the levers will be a challenge , I think it can be done if you are patient .

A bit embarassing but here goes how do u tell the difference between the two... its a numbers matching trans 73 cuda. Ill take a pic tommorrow

Then it is a regular A833 and the cover has to come off. That really is a good excuse to get the transmission out, replace bearings, seals and gaskets and check the synchro rings. Good refresh for a budget price and best of all a new lease on life. I have replaced the cover with the tranny in the car - not easy but depending how your lips protrude then you can do it. Plus you will invent, perhaps, another swear word that can be added to the English Oxford dictionary

not what i wanted to hear. but is there anything online that gives good instruction on how to rebuild possibly youtube? or a manual? An how hard is it to remove these trannys from the car?
