70-71 Leather Seat Foam Front Seats
« on: December 25, 2013 - 10:05:18 PM »
Which one is the right one for a 71' Cuda Leather seats?

I saw on PG Classics, 3 different types of seat buns yet none indicated which one for the Leather seat option.

I called Classic Industries today.

They sell PUI Industries. I told him..."No Thank you."

I got mine from Legendary but they needed a lot of work to make them fit. Not much of a choice out there.

I suspect PUI Interiors is the only manufacturer of the seat foam buns.

Do they have any competitors?

How unfortunate that we're reduced to paying top dollar for ....garbage products. Anyone?

What makes them "garbage products"?  I put their products in my car.  I modified the foams for more bolster top and bottom and had the stock style  seat covers custom modified to fit, all while looking stock.  I think they look great, but now hear their garbage. What is the story behind that reputation?

This thread seems to indicate that foams from Legendary where used to change from standard seats to leather seats.

Mike I got my Gran Coupe style buns/covers at Legendary. They were very good to deal with as I had to send them back twice after a stitch seperated. These are the seats with the buttons in them. They fit well but the cushions are definitely not the same as stock with the factory having a mesh moulded in. You dont know the different sitting in them though.

I was talking to Mike, and I know that he already ordered the upholstery from Legendary, but to chime in anyway:  The '71 leather seats are  the same as the '70 Cuda leather seats so you can just order the '70 stuff and everything works out fine.  The only thing that needs to be done is to groove the foam where the row of button is.  The '70 foam doesn't come with that groove.  BTW, one of the buttons came apart, so I called Legendary and asked for a couple.  They sent me a dozen, so if anyone needs a black button for said seat covers, let me know.

Owen,

The seat frames are ready to send out to the blasters on Monday. Then I bring em back and shoot a coat of epoxy primer. Then a quick coat of gloss black. They're not too bad a shape just really stinky smelling.

I found wires on the bucket seats hog ringed in where the grooves are that you mentioned.
I removed them in case I need them again.

Did you or anyone else here re use those?

They fit well but the cushions are definitely not the same as stock with the factory having a mesh moulded in. You dont know the different sitting in them though.

Wally,

As I tore the wires out, I saw the mesh you mentioned.
I let the upholstery guy break down my seats for 2 reasons.

1. The seats all stunk like hell.
2. He sees how everything went together and apart.

I may have that cable/strap, do you have a measurement?

I made one for my A100 seats from a bicycle brake cable btw. You can get the bolts with a hole drilled to slide the cable through and thread a nut on it to clamp it down.

I'm looking for one I had laying around to copy.

Also, are these normally used?
I don't recall seeing these on mine before.

I just ordered an adjustment cable (11") from P.G. Classics.    The seat spacers ...... yes, they get the track off the carpet and help the seat sit at the right height.   At least that is my understanding from research ......

Cheers ..... CHAPS

Need to ask again.

I don't recall seat spacers being used.
Please verify.
