    Why wouldn't you assemble the engine more before painting ?

    Not painting the trick flows or intake, just the valley pan separate

    I see some people paint all the parts separate, some paint it fully assembled... I'm painting it this way for the look I want

    Twalker, I also did the same when I recently painted my 440 so I had better coverage on the timing chain cover.  However, I didn't paint my valley tray, left it bare.  You'll like the Eastwood engine paint.  I used the same stuff and it came out really nice.   :2thumbs:

    Things are coming along... just dealing with some fitment of the valley pan to head ports at the moment.  Alternator is just on for a test fit.  Water pump test fit soon.

    Smith bros push rods arrive this week.  Should be ready to fire in a couple weeks!



    Damper not pushed on yet.

    Things are coming along.  We have a date with the dyno on Friday.  Should have it in the car on Saturday - it's ready to receive it so hopefully will be running in the car by Easter.  Woohoooo

    It's alive !!!! Engine is broke in.  What a feeling to hear that thing roar to life. I think all went all, great oil pressure, kept the temp in a good place, and sounded good.  Tomorrow will drain and check oil, put fresh in, re torque the heads and put my inner valve springs back in. 

    The engine build has been quite a learning process.  Want to thank everyone here who helped, especially Chryco!

    This 3 year restoration is nearing completion....

    Sorry for the late response.  Also, been busy installing and doing break in run of my engine.  Congrats on bringing it to life.   :2thumbs:   Did you do your Dyno run yet  for HP and torque or just do the break in?

    Drained the oil and took apart the oil filter, I THINK all is ok.  Nothing unexpected or out of the ordinary for a break in.
