Looking good! When I had my engine initially assembled, I loved the look of a black block with aluminum heads and intake that I painted it that way. I know it's not mopar style but it looks mean

Thanks!  Agree, I like that contrast look too. But I am partial to the Chrysler orange though too so I've got a can of Eastwood ceramic 2k engine paint coming in orange.  Looking forward to laying that down, from examples I've seen its got that thick glossy look I like.

Cheers

Thank you, it's been another learning experience...

FYI for all - I will be posting a complete parts list later in case anyone is wondering what I used.  And if things go as planned, an engine dyno report card.

Awesome build
I would have gone with the 71 wing as you have the 71 billboard decals  :2cents: I love the 71 wing !
I would also reverse the exhaust hanger bolts so most of the bolt is hidden under the seat .
Take a picture of the combustion chamber side of the heads if you have a minute , that is one of the few big block heads I have never used .
 Thanks

Thanks.  Re the wing, I hear ya, I just like the look of the go wing better, it's a personal preference thing though I know.  Good idea re the exhaust hangers, I will do that!

Here's a picture of the underside of the head -

Can't wait to see how these heads perform.

Rocker assembly arrived, woohoo!

Looks like a great piece, very happy.  And even comes with the push rod length finder tool! :-)

New rockers arrived...they fit perfectly right out of the wrapper.  Every one is aligned on the valve stem and correct side to side play.  Back in business!  Time to measure push rod length and get those ordered.  (Ignore shaft hardware, just temporary to check fit)

How did you check that pattern? You need to have it assembled with the camshaft and then roll it over to check the pattern.

Hey Brad, I ran that test (see below) but - only using a push rod length finder tool at the moment, hydraulic lifters, and I don't have the head gasket on yet.  So either way I have to do all this over again at final assembly time. Make sense?

Hey guys, re push rod length - using a push rod length finder tool and following the instructions from Harland sharp, eg. No more than 2 threads and now less than 0 threads showing, adding the compressed head gasket thickness I'm getting at push rod length of 9.664...end to end, will have to account for the cup depth at time of order.  Note I set the rocker adjustment just over 0 threads showing knowing that I'll need to account for preload of one turn which roughly equates to a thread thickness.

So I think I need to look for ball to cup, 5/16, non oiler, 9.650 length (again accounting for cup depth).

I'm only posting this because it seems so long compared to stock and what I see widely available  pre made.  I guess it's because of the trickflow head shaft position and rocker combo?
