Recommend an Atlanta Area Mopar Rear & Trans Specialist?

Has anyone used an Atlanta area rear and/or transmission specialist that you can recommend?  First off I'll probably have an 8 3/4 rear rebuilt with all new seals bearings, posi, gears, etc.  After that I may either need a 727 gone through or a 23 spline 833 gone through possibly upgrading the internals to 18 spline.  If you  can recommend a dependable shop, I'll call them to get an idea on prices etc.

You most likely wont find just a "Mopar Rear End Specialist:"  Do a local search for differential or rear end end rebuilders.  Remember that as far as American made rear ends go, they are only about  6 makes or so out there and most of the rear dif rebuilders that have been around can and have rebuilt every make that was commonly mad

I found out a guy here in Colorado Springs.  He rebuilds every American make out there, the Mopar Stuff just being a part of what he does. He did my 8.75 and did a heck of a job.  In his shop were 10-12 bolt GM stuff, every rear end that Mopar most likely has ever made, and allot of Ford stuff.

Point being that any reputable rear end rebuilder can do your rear end

You're right, that's probably what I'll have to do. Problem is, in my experience many shops will say they can work on Mopars but really have mostly GM, some Ford and almost no Chrysler experience.  I actually took my 8 3/4 to a local race shop when I was a kid and they screwed up the ring & pinion change and the pinion bolt backed off after only a few miles and ruined the new gears.  This is bigtime Chevy country like most places I'd guess so I no longer assume 'reputable' necessarily includes Mopars.  I'll ask a lot of questions whoever I go with so hopefully will get a good feel before I leave anything.  Thanks, Jim

Let me check with a friend later today. I am in the Atlanta area also. His shop is in Lithonia. He is mainly a GM guy, like you said, Mopars are not real popular around here, but he has 30 plus years in hot rods locally.

Are you a member of N. Ga. Mopars ? Go to their web site and look under the for sale ads and such. A member, Gerald Wright, I think does a lot of ads with motors and trans. I do not know him or his work but might give you an idea by calling.
