Hey Josh, it really is not too hard to squeeze a 413 in to an A-body engine bay buddy, they fit rather nicely in fact. Also another condiration with the 413 is that you can by 426 Wedge piston and turn the 413 in to a 426 Wedge buddy, a 413 is only around .062 thou smaller bore size than a 426, easy conversion to achieve a standard bore 426 Wedge, put a set of 440Source Stealth heads on it and you will have a reasonable engine on the cheap, a very worth while build i would say, just check that the bolt pattern on the rear of the crank is not an 8 hole crank, it is useless for your application, check that first old mate
You can then tell everyone who asks what the engine is, and you can confidently say it is a 426 Wedge.

What is the difference between the different holed cranks?

The fella told me that the engine should be a standard rotation engine.

Can someone please tell me what all is changed to make an engine rotate differently.

I worked in a refinery and we used chrysler 413 industial motors for emergency fire water pumps and they were counter clock wise rotation.The crank will have the knurling for the rear main seal cut in an opposite direction and won't allow it to seal in the clockwise direction. The engine will run ok but it will leak like a sieve. I found this out the hard way last year with a chrysler marine engine. It ran good but couldn't stop the rear leak. You might get a shop to grind the knurle smooth since they were made for the rope seals of the day and aren't needed with the new style seals.

Hi Mopar Jack, i have never heard of an engine running in a reverse rotation, that sounds weird buddy
I do know for a fact that some 361 and 413 truck engines came with a reverse rotation camshaft that had a geardrive system fitted that had one large cog on the camshaft and one small cog on the crankshaft, so two cogs only that made the camshaft run backwards.

Hey Josh, the problem with having an 8 hole crank in a truck 413 is that it would be a Truck crank and is longer on the rear and will not hook up to a car transmission weather it be an Auto or a 4 speed buddy, you would need a truck gearbox and that will not fit in to your application buddy. But it is so easy to swap it out for a 440 crank anyway as the 383RB-413-426-440 all shared the same stroke.
Build it as a 426 Wedge, it will be cheap enough, just bore out the 413 block to standard 426 Wedge pistons and your on your way bud.
