Good morning

My newest project, a 70 Challenger R/T 440 4-speed, is going to leave soon heading towards my home (on the other side of the big pond). Introduction will follow, as soon as it arrives.

I am already gathering all parts I will need to have it ready for spring. I have most of it by now. Still missing is the front manual drum to power disc conversion. As it is ist almost completely numbers matching and factory looking (except for the carburetor), I'd like to keep that look. I usually prefer restoring original parts (or have them restored). Therefore I am searching for a ready to bolt on, OEM style front brake conversion kit (manual drum -> power disc). I have 15" rallies.

I've been reading all the posts concerning the conversions and checking all the kits I found. There are also interesting articles on that subject on Hemmings and other sites (http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2008/07/01/hmn_feature22.html). Per example Inline Tube (www.inlinetube.com) conversions have the correct OE proportioning valve and pre-plumbed brake lines, but it seems that they don't have kits for MOPARs. Almost all the kits I've found have "modern style" proportioning valves.

So I would be very glad, if somebody knows where I can get an OEM style conversion kit, preferable with bendix style booster, correct proportioning valve and maybe even pre-plumbed brake lines.

Or maybe someone can offer such a kit built from factory parts?

You will not find a kit with the correct booster.70  booster was a one year only item.On my 70 cuda I bought the front disc brake conversion on ebay,about 400 bucks for the kit.Then I bought the master cylinder for a auto zone.It was an Oem replacement.Make sure you get the master cylinder with the 11/8 bore.I purchased the lines and prop valve from inline.Try and find a used 70 booster and have it rebuilt.A place in San Jose,Calif will rebuilt it for 150.00.You can buy a new replacement booster but it will not have the correct part # on the front.

First off, the boosters/master cylinder combos are very hard to find and require large sums of $$$ for cores. Yes you can find master cylinders here and there but there are many that are not "correct".

Just bought a booster and master cylinder for my 70 Cuda from Dave at Roseville. 100% stock looking and good to go!

So you think, this should work out?- buy g good quality disc conversion kit (p. ex. http://www.getdiscbrakes.com/mdc62dc), maybe also the brake lines
- get a stock looking booster & master cylinder (11/8 bore) eiter from Dave at Roseville or have one restored
- get the proportion valve from Inline Tube (if they have the right one)

As shipping costs to Switzerland for such heavy material is very expensive, I have to try to get everything right at the first time. Therefore it's important to specify everything correct in advance.

I am very happy with it. I would have loved to let it be all stock, but with all the ups and downs in mountain country Switzerland you're better off converting or brake fading will follow you you wherever you go....

Just for my personal interest: What do the originals look like?
