If I may, here is a little info to help with the restoration as well as some other related info:

* T/A blocks had more "meat" in the bottom end webbing making the block stiffer for racing and providing a better base for adding 4-bolt main caps.
* T/A & AAR 340's came with 915 castings, same as was used on 360's and later 340's. But they were machined for 2.02" intake valves and had the offset pushrod holes which required the offset intake rockers. It allowed more intake porting. The "X" heads were 894 castings and not used on T/A engines.
* Cam was standard issue hydraulic 340.
* The T/A & AAR 340's were destroked for the Trans Am series races which had a 305 cubic inch limit. Mopar had a 2.94" (forgot the exact #) stroke crank for this purpose.
* W-2 heads evolved directly from the T/A heads and came out around 1976.
* I'm not 100% sure, but I believe original 6-pack manifolds had a Chrysler part # cast into them along with "Edelbrock". Be careful that someone doesn't try to sell you 440 6 pack carbs or ones with mechanical secondaries. But I believe you can still buy new carbs and intake from their respective manufacturers.
* Another "not 100% sure", but I believe there was a very slight offset difference between T/A and W-2 rockers. Mopar use to sell cast adjustable W-2 rockers but I'm not sure how to tell them apart.

Good luck with the project. I always liked the T/A Challengers and AAR Cudas. My first car was a '72 Challenger.

The T/A engine is unique in many ways.
THe heads, valve train, block are unique because of the SSCA races.
One of the best engines built by Chrysler.

Yes, but for us poor suffering 340 T/A engine owners who are continually on the hunt for their very rare parts, we welcome anything that helps keep us in the hunt, 'just sayin'.
