How hard and what is the process to replace the quarter glass seals?

Do you have to remove the chrome channel, slide or glue in?

The verticle seal is just slid into a track in the stainless trim. I've seen glue used in 70 versions but not in the 71+ style.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

So what's the process for removing the glass if it is in fact glued in. Any tricks or tips.

It might just need to be polished. No deep scratches just dirty but I can't get it to clean up. My thought was to just replace it. Do they sell glass restoration kits? What would I use?

My original one just slid right out.  The new one was a PITA to install.  The seal was too big for the channel and I had to slowly work it down with a lot of force.  My fingers/wrists hurt for a week after.

I'm thinking I should just transfer the chrome channel with weatherstripping to the new glass.
How would I go about removing and reinstalling the channel?
Any tips or how to's?

Thanks

Are you replacing the seal or the glass...both?  The seal doesn't come with the stainless piece.  The seal just pulls out and the new one gets pushed in.  I think 70 has a different way of attaching the stainless piece to the aluminum frame.  My 73 just has one rivet holding it on at the bottom.

I have my bad (scratched) glass with good channels and weather-stripping.
Bought some better glass with not-so-good channels and weather-stripping.

Want to transfer my HW over to the new glass.

The channel should be held to the lower aluminum frame at the bottom somehow.  Mine used a rivet.  Have a look and see how it's attached.  The glass just pushes into the groove in the channel.  There is a gasket of sorts in the channel but the glass just pushes into it.  With the lower attachment point disconnected, the channel will come(should come) right off.

Realize this an old thread but I am doing this now and need to know if the rubber like channel used to secure the glass to the stainless trim is being reproduced? Mine broke apart when I removed the glass from the channels. Or is my only option black urethane? THANKS
