Mixed up fuel and temp wires on gauges ?
« on: January 05, 2014 - 02:36:19 PM »
70 Cuda Rallye

If the fuel and engine temp leads are mixed up on the back of the gauges, will they react accordingly or not at all ?  I'm ready to button everything up, but getting a bit paranoid. Both are slow reacting but tank is 1/2 full so it shows same place as engine temp.

I would think so as they all work basically the same way.
.
It would be easy enough to disconnect one sending unit & see which gauge reacts....then you'd know.

Duh !

I swear to god that sometimes I feel like a total idiot.  :banghead: Trust me, I really am not this stupid !! Working on this car and fixing all the little things the previous owner either screwed up and/or didn't feel like messing with has gotten me so frustrated that even my wife tells me to think twice before I say anything when I walk into the house after working on the car ! I just keep telling myself that it will all be worth it when its time to drive it again.

YES they will act accordingly, and scare the pants off you.   :eek7:

I started up my car and my temp. gauge was reading H. Gas gauge was reading E. Guess what I did wrong?   :bricks1:

I put my ohmmeter on those 3 gauges of my spare rallye cluster and all 3 read 12.5 ohms. Sooooo, like it's been already said - yes they'll read accordingly to whichever sensor is plugged to them.
