pui headliner
« on: January 08, 2014 - 02:35:19 PM »
hi guys,
has anyone had any bad luck trying to fit a PUI headliner in there 70 challengers.
I have a 5 bow headliner from PUI, from the front of the roof near the rear view mirror
my original headliner is  9.8 inches long, the one from PUI is 14.2 inches long,
has anyone else had this problem, they are not being very helpful, i bought this headliner in 2009.

YES...you need to take your PUI headliner and throw it in the large round bin in the corner of your shop....then buy a headliner manufactured by Legendary Auto Interiors...I've gone through this same situation twice...never again.

Not sure if I'm understanding your question correctly.  Are you saying that the PUI headliner is longer/larger than the OEM?  If that's the case, I think they do that on purpose so that you have more material to work with for the "fudge factor".  I don't remember if mine was a PUI or not, but it was larger than the OEM headliner.  It just required trimming it down to fit.  Personally, I'd rather have extra material to work with than not enough.  Good luck with it.  BTW awesome car!  :2thumbs:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

If you look at the picture of the headliners on top of one another, you'll notice that the seam spacing is off.  The bows are going to go into the roof in the stock location...if the seam spacing is too wide in the middle, there is no way to pull the headliner tight.

That's exactly the problem. The first time it happened to me, my headliner guy had the cut and re-sew the whole thing :stomp: The second time (customer supplied)....we just tossed it....got a new one from Legendary

The headliner is only just long enough, so there is no room to trim it to fit better.
The wheels are boss 338s, 18x 9.5, 4.5 bs standard spring location

:wow: I just worked out your Aussie, so that changes everything. That colour looks a lot like the Indy Orange on the Monaro's, always loved that colour, suits your car to a "T" :clapping: :2thumbs: And those are Simmons on it in an earlier picture aren't they :woo:
