Can anyone tell me how many holes and where they go for the challenger vinyl top trim.

I measured on a '70 Challenger with a factory vinyl top and got 12 holes - 2 on each roof pillar and 8 along the back filler (Dutchman) panel.  I tried to take pictures, but they didn't make any sense, so here goes...
There is a little vertical sheet metal "wall" that separates the forward side of the trunk area from the quarter window area.  The first hole is two inches from that wall; the second hole is 9" from that wall (7" from the first hole).
The rest of the holes are on the filler panel and all are 1.5 inches down from the window gutter.  Measuring across from the side seam of the filler panel (and the quarter panel) they are 1.25, 9, 17.5, and 25 from each side.  Good luck.

On our car, the trim strip is a little higher than the bottom of the drip molding

Awesome man! I greatly appreciate the help. The body shop doing my work filled the holes and I wanted to make sure they didnt make more than they needed like the people that did the work before them.

Does the spacing of these holes look right? I am trying to give the dimensions to my buddy to relay to the body shop to make sure everything mounts up correctly.

Thanks everyone

Drew I don't know if the trim is the same for a '73, clip style is a bit different using mostly studs, but I posted some pics in this thread a while back if it helps

That does help...but looking at the pictures it looks like I have one to many holes in the quarter panel...right? there should be the one that is about 2 inches from the 1/4 window point and then the other one about 7 inches in from that like FY1 said. I just need to make sure that I don't have too many clips on the trim...that would confuse everyone on reassembly  :roflsmiley:

Does the front most hole have to be accessed from behind the interior panel?

Yes there is a nut that goes on a stud for that retainer which is different from the others.

It doesn't matter how many holes you've got for your trim as long as you've got enough! One more won't make the world end nor hurt your installation either.

Wade,

Got any pictures of that? Im trying to relay the word back to Texas. The car finally is getting color and my buddy is trying to get the holes in place before they shoot color on there.

That one is accessible with the panel removed & the headliner in place...looks like all the clips are the same on a '70
....................& the SE takes a different size http://www.rtspecialties.net/proddetail.asp?prod=1000097A

That is what I thought but they can't find the hole behind the panel. Does anyone have any photos of the hole from inside the car or can anyone get a picture. Anyone have the removal section from the repair manual?
