I have been wanting to drive my 73 Challenger more and wanted better mileage and a better driving Challenger. I didn't want to modify my current fuel system like cut the gas tank for a return line so I found Edelbrock makes separate sump with a built in electric fuel pump and still uses your original fuel pump to supply the fuel. I started shopping around for the best price with free shipping. I bought it on Mon. and was delivered to me Wed. It is the E-Street EFI and I can't wait to get it put on to see how good it really works. I had already bought a Edelbrock aluminum intake so it will also be going on at the same time. Here are a couple pictures so everyone can check out my new EFI unit.

Very cool.  Of coarse I already bought a brand new carb for my Dart project.  EFI has been in the back of my mind though.  Let us know how it goes. :ylsuper:

Took a good look at everything in the EFI kit and decided beings we had a warm day I would go ahead and paint the intake manifold engine color to match everything else and make the EFI less noticeable. I took the windshield washer bottle out and I think that side is where I will mount my fuel pump sump. Here is a picture of the intake ready to install after I get the original off the engine.

That's exactly the EFI system I plan on getting this spring as soon as I get the car out of storage. I will be following you closely. Have you decided on a location for the sump yet? I plan on taking out the windshield washer fluid tank and installing it there. Also, where do you plan on putting the control box?

Sorry, I was so excited to see a fellow Mopar guy use this EFI I didn't read your last post as closely as I should have about the sump location.

I'm going to try and put the sump where the washer bottle was but the sump will not sit exactly straight up and down so I'm going to call the tech line and see if it will cause a problem. I have not decided on the location for the control box and may put it inside the passenger compartment. Here is a picture of the sump sitting in the Challenger. I have the 26" radiator so it will not mount to the core support as there is not enough room. The intake carburetor setup is off so now to put the parts on. I'll post pictures as I make progress but it is winter and the Challenger may not be started up any time soon.

My idea, and I'm doing this from memory since my car is in storage and I can't look at it, is bolt the sump against the radiator support on the same side as the washer bottle. I figured I'd still have to remove the washer bottle. There is a video on youtube that shows a popular hot rodding '68 Nova E-Street install where they put the sump against the radiator support only on the left side. I wanted to do the same thing only on the right side.

I started installing some of the parts today for my Edelbrock EFI. I got the intake gasket set Thursday and the intake has been painted for 7 days so the paint is good and dry. I installed the intake and installed the throttle body. I got the water hoses back on and the coil bolted down. I ran the wiring harness and plugged everything in so I can figure out if I can put the ECU inside the passenger compartment to keep it away from the engine heat. I have not got the fuel pump sump fastened down yet or the 02 sensor in but I had plenty of other things to work on. The aluminum intake is almost 1 inch taller than stock and the throttle body is about a 1/4 inch taller. With the Challenger bulge hood clearance should not be a issue. Hope to get more work done soon so I can post more pictures and information.

Looks nice and all, but my first thought was what happens in a wreck or even a fender bender?  Having fuel there up front , pressurized or not makes me concerned?  :dunno:  Can that be mounted near the fuel tank?

Did not really get much done today other than the fittings are on for the fuel pump going to 3/8 line and I drilled the exhaust pipe and welded in the threaded insert for the 02 sensor. I called Edelbrock about the fuel sump placement and the control unit and was told the wiring is not long enough to mount it inside the engine compartment without making a special hole in the firewall and the plug is very large. He told me the fuel sump pump can be mounted safely in the engine compartment and said the plastic is very strong and maybe stronger than my gas tank.  Here is a picture of the 02 insert welded in with cap put on.
