Trunk floor mat: Rumors of a new one being done
« on: January 11, 2014 - 12:40:16 AM »
I read on another site, that there is in the works of a vendor reproducing a more a exact reproduction of the trunk floor mat.

A member here mentioned to me over the phone the repro's shrink over time.
Is that something others here have noticed?

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe ECS is doing them as well as James Filmore at DMT.

I'm sure there will be some on line comparisons of the two products in the future....most likely with one company in particular bashing the other for their feeble attempt at accuracy :blah: :blah: :blah:

I say it's always great to have any new reproduction products launched into our hobby....whether they have different price points or different levels of quality, let the consumer decide which one he or she wants to buy. There's room for everyone. :woo:

I just received the reproduction one from Vansauto off of E Bay.

Definitely thinner material. Lines aren't as defined. Look thick.
Durometer of material is definitely softer than what the OEM's were.

Lemme take a guess! The rumored new one's will be $500.00 from ECS.

My repo matt curled up.  So I found some Neodymium magnets to hold it flat.  Been that way for a year or two now.  I have to see if it will stay flat for a while.

There are two different kinds I've seen for sale at shows.  One is a thin material that's folded up tight into a ball.  When it's laid out in the trunk, there are ugly creases all over it.  The second kind is a thick rubber that's rolled up in a box.  That's the one I bought.  It doesn't get those wrinkles in it but it didn't fit very well and can curl up on the edges over time.

I bought the one that's folded up in a tight ball.

I would call it a Cheese ball.
Because it's so cheesy of a reproduction. Cloth type underside.

R.E.M or R.P.S. I think who made it.
Chineese cheese ball.

Any new updates on who or when a better quality reproduction trunk matte willbe out?

I can't stand the one I bought.

What we need on this website is something like a Yelp thread.
Positives or negatives on reproduction items you've bought and how well or not they worked.

I agree with the listing of Repo parts that do not fit as they should.
Nothing bugs me more than buying repo parts that are suppose to be quality and when you receive the they are crap
An example is the rear mouldings for GC from PG Classics and they ended up in the bin, not even close to original

There must be somebody that would consider re making them if they had a certain amount of commited deposit buyers.
