Actual Emblems on Challenger Spoiler ?
« on: January 16, 2014 - 01:22:10 PM »
one thing ive always wanted to add to my 71 Challenger is a T/A Spoiler (AKA duck spoiler, deck lid spoiler).

since ive had little to no luck finding one at swap meets i might have to go with this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-71-72-73-74-Dodge-Challenger-Deck-Lid-Spoiler-Mounting-Kit-New-MoPar-/360808090784?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5401d68ca0&vxp=mtr

Ive found a few emblems at shows a "challenger" and "R/T" emblem

Question

Has anyone drilled holes in the fiber glass of one of these ? would it hold up or brake ?

id like to add the emblems instead of the decal

anyone attempted this or have pics ?

The one I have (and I believe the ebay one too) has a concave surface where the emblem would go.  The metal emblem wouldn't sit flat and I doubt you'd be able to contour it without breaking it.  That's the reason the T/A got a decal there.  With todays printing technology, I'm sure someone could make a photo realistic Challenger R/T decal for it.

I would buy it straight from Dale's Cuda Shop, or price it through Dave at Roseville Moparts. :2cents:

You won't get emblems on there, it's not a flat surface as mentioned.

I bought a "Challenger" decal for my T/A spoiler from Challenger Gary. I just asked for the T/A decal without the T/A. I'm sure he could put R/T in place of the T/A. I've had it on for two years and doesn't show any wear yet.

There's a guy with a 74 in Alexandria, VA who has a TA spoiler with an RT emblem in it. I'm not sure how he did it; what everybody else says about the concave surface is right. It'll definitely be harder that just drilling holes and plopping it in place, but it is possible.

I don't know who made my spoiler.  I got it from a swap meet years ago.  It's plastic not fiberglass.  I don't know if the ones currently available are plastic or 'glass.  If they're still plastic, I suppose if you had a heat gun and were REALLY REALLY careful you could make something work but in my opinion the risk of wrecking the spoiler outweighs the benefit of a metal emblem.

All the correct reproduction spoilers are plastic. :2cents:

Now.....If you get one of the new plastic R/T emblems, maybe you could heat up a curve the emblem... :dunno:
