Dash pad differences
« on: January 18, 2014 - 05:18:25 PM »
Can anyone tell me the differences between the dash pads that are sold from roseville, classic industries, and Year one? The one from roseville is looking like $1120 and classic industries is $640.  :feedback:

The only thing that I saw from Classic was that it was out of stock, but I wouldnt imagine them keeping a bunch of 70 Burnt Orange 1 speaker no AC dashes in stock.

1 speaker no AC dashes...
I'm lookin for 1 speaker, no A/C in black myself.
I'm debating the cap/overlay because my budget isn't in the mix to spend $1,200 at this time. But I need to get something going so I can move on to installing the rest of the electrical.  :pullinghair:

As much as I dont want to spend that kind of money right now, tax time is the time to do it and my wife is tired of seeing carpet on the dash  :smilielol:

A few years ago I put a 'cap' on my old dash. It looked ok until it spend an afternoon in the sun with the windows rolled up. Last year I bought a new pad from Roseville. It looks a lot better than the cap.
Expensive, but I'm glad i spent the money. Everybody looking at your car notices the dash pad. Good or bad.  :2cents:

At one point someone was selling  a plastic core/frame dash pad and reports were they warped in the sun.
I too got mine from Dave at Roseville and am happy with it. (steel core) Be careful and research thoroughly before you lay down your hard earned cash?  :2cents:

Simple explanation....
Okay....maybe I don't know the reason... :blah:

I would guess one of two resons why CI's are cheaper...Either they are plastic cores, or in the small print somewhere there is a core charge. :2cents:

I knew it was simple.....

Plastic cores, just like I thought...

From Classic's web site....
Each dash pad is wrapped in vinyl and manufactured on an ABS frame to reinforce the weak spots of the original dash. These dash pads feature correctly located mounting studs for a proper fit and are available for cars with or without air conditioning,1 or 3 speaker holes, and in all factory colors. Please specify color when ordering Made in USA.

So it's in the frame. Is the plastic frame that easily warped?  I plan on keeping my current dash as a wall decoration. I have no problem spending the extra if it is really worth it.

I've used one ABS framed pad (customer supplied) I had to work more to make it fit and it looked all warpy in the vent areas. Once installed it didn't look too bad and I don't think heat, sun etc...would make it look worse any time soon.

If you're on a budget and don't wish to blow your wad....It may be good for you :2cents:

its an option and since I don't have AC and it's only a one speaker dash there shouldn't be much working. I'm going to be living in Denver so I'm not sure what the warpage possibilities would be. Like I said, if the quality is that much better Ill gladly pay. But if the quality difference isn't going to be noticeable then I could use that $500 elsewhere
