Holley connection for accelerator cable
« on: January 20, 2014 - 08:11:56 PM »
Have a new Holley carb and i am trying to come up with the proper connection for the accelerator cable. I need to order a taller bracket to match the Edelbrock Rpm Dual plane manifold i have. I found one through Mancini and i think my cable will be long enough, but i am not sure where it connects. I have a pointer showing where i think it connects, but it doesn't match the cable end. Am i missing something else?

Mopar linkage adapter 20-7 if I recall bolt onto the arm & positions the pin correctly http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/hly-20-7/overview/

Yes it does , Don't have to buy from Summit just the first place I looked for it , Jegs or most local speed shops will have it , I would send you one if I had access to them but they are in Canada 1000s of miles from me

……. and I used a small block throttle cable bracket on my B block application to raise the cable higher so that it lined up more horizontal with the throttle pivot hole on the carb. Simply cut from below enough to allow the bolt holes on the bracket to be spread apart then once it fit on the manifold bolts I took it off welded/ground smooth and painted. Looks like it was made to fit.

Thanks for all the help guys. I have it all hooked now. Looks good and works great. Only concern i have is my throttle cable seems a bit long and has a odd twist to it, but it seems to work just fine. And the accelerator peddle also seems really hard to push down. I have the identical tall bracket and as well as a tall spring return bracket. Are you suppose to use both the springs or just one of them?

theory is, use two, so if one breaks, you're engine can still return to idle.

Yeah but a stuck open throttle is so much unexpected fun.

Don't ask me how I know.... different story than this though.

Sorry to bump this.  But I have the same problem, same carb, same linkage.

How exactly does this fit together with the holley 20-7?  The linkage seems to just slide and not 'pull' the cable, does the cable also attach somewhere other than at the end?  Seems like it needs a holder for the cable itself or is that not right?

Please help!
Picture of completed unit??  And where exactly do the 2 springs attach?

I guess I have the bracket, but how does this all fit together?  What holds the throttle cable to the bracket?
Carb and how the gas pedal line is just sitting there :)  How do I attach this?

there is a stud standing up near the rear of the metal housing on the cable , there is a clamp piece that holds the cable housing there that you are missing

Thank you!!  Never buy incomplete cars!!  Missing so many random little bolts and nuts.  Now I have to find what 'bracket holder thingy' goes on that stud.
