Firewall issue

Anyone have an issue with an AMD firewall as the throttle cable I believe is supposed to snap in and mine goes in and falls out like the hole is bigger that the arms can grab.

I really don't have to have to figure out another way and yes I got this about a year ago from year one:

This pic doesn't even look right, it actually looks more like the hemi cable.

Anyone have an issue with this?

Can you bend the arms out a little bit, maybe with heat?

 Yeah Alan I tried that but to no avail, might have to make some metal interor clip piece to hold it in place...

I ran into the same thing last year although I haven't gone further as of yet.
But in my search last year, I thought I remembered reading something about a metal retaining clip kept it in place (maybe part of original design?). I read about that somewhere but can't remember.

That is correct. There is a flat shaped piece of metal that slides thru on the interior side on the plastic.
Very hard to see unless you look closely you'll see the hole it slides thru.

I don't think that metal strip was designed to hold it in place though...more of a safety thing if you ask me.

I will have to agree because looking at my SGG Cuda, it has a metal clip holding the plastic piece on the inside of the interior bulkhead. It looks original but can't verify that.
Could possibly take a pic tomorrow if needed.

I'll take a pic in a few hours and post it.
I do remember last summer thinking a thin front end spacer might be close to working but never got around to checking. I'll dig one of those out this evening and see if it might be a possibility.

Okay, here is what I discovered.
The first couple pics of the installed throttle cable show a piece of metal going thru the slot of the plastic housing inside the firewall. Can't say it's original or not but looks to have been in place for a while.
The next few pics show a shim for front end alignment. It may actually work as it sits in the recessed area of the housing although I didn't try it. But looking at it seems to be a pretty good way to secure the plastic piece. A very thin shim would do the trick in my mind.

Well I decided to ditch pacman and make some pieces to keep the cable firmly attached at the firewall.

I made some stout fittings out of 20g steel and now the cable is not going anywhere. Yes I check multiple cables and they all the same as mine so somehow the firewall I got from AMD had some tooling issues. So instead of getting a new firewall...

Hopefully this might help someone in the future if they come across this problem. Again its not the way I want it but I will bet the farm that it will not come out by itself.
