Hood Hinge Repair
« on: January 22, 2014 - 11:50:56 PM »
took my cuda to a guy who does $100,000 restorations on mopar cars (cudas mostly). one of the things he said was that the hood hinges were warn. he recommended against buying newly manufactures hinges due to poor quality compared to original (maybe fact or just his opinion chinese replacement parts not up to snuff). He recommended I have the hinges reworked to take the play out of the moving parts of the hinge (I don't know the correct name), replacing the rivets which hold it together.

anyone have a source for hinge referb?

Have heard poor quality comments on the repop stuff. Yes, Restorick can rebush and pin yours. A much better result that
the "new" stuff available.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Are you sure they are worn out ?
Most just need correct adjustment to get the rear of the hood to come down flush with the fenders

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

It varies on yr and make. For my 70 Challenger I think it was around $180.00 for the pair but I did have some other stuff done at the same time. Go to the site   http://www.sms-auto.com/default.html and fill out the quote request. Rod was a good guy to deal with and he got back to me with a quote in just a few hours.
They came out clean, fresh and tight.  :naughty:

Hey.......sets get back to the adjustment thing...........didn't know there was an adjustment.  Mine lifts and then the nose comes back down a few inches and then when I close the hood I most of the time have to bring it down and sort of twist to the the rear to go down and then close and then put a little pressure on the scoop area to finally seat the hood all the way down.  Adjustment.....lets hear more..........Chryco  has a lot of answers.......waiting on this one......
