73 Cuda Rear Sway Bar

Does anyone have info on rear sway bar for 1973 cuda

what was original bar diameter?

recommendation for replacement (maker / part number)?

recommendation for hangers?

pictures of how it hooks up

any help appreciated

I measured the diameter of the one in my basement using a digital caliper in different spots on the bar and came up with an average of .74 inches. It was originally probably 3/4 of an inch, and the discrepency is due to the rust erosion.

I'm pretty sure the 71-74 rear sway bars are the same as the TA/AAR set-ups.  3/4 inch diameter; the firm feel unit is the same as far as I know. good luck!   :cheers:

Mine is an original piece on the 73 and it also is .75 diameter. Finding replacement bushings was the hard part. I will be needing another set when I get the TA......next month

New bushings for that application are not available.  It wasn't supposed to be a serviceable part since the straps are welded to the frame brackets.  Aftermarket pieces use bolt on straps.  I had to find a nice pair of original bushings, cut the straps off and re weld them onto the frame brackets.
