This guy is trying to rip someone off...YOU! The price he is asking is criminal, and it sounds like he might be.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!  Maybe report him to DMV for the VIN tag switch to boot!

I am not sure if someone posted it here, but did you look at the VIN # on the rear speakershelf? It is around the left rear speaker hole and stamped like the cowl numbers.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

 :???: :???:

There is a VIN number stamped on the rear speaker shelf???? :???:     Is it under the cardboard / vinyl dress cover?? -
That means I' ll need to remove part of the interior on the rear deck....correct??

Are there any other places I should look for VIN numbers ? :???: :???:

Thanks !!!

I've owned 20-30 e bodies, and have NEVER seen a VIN stamped on the door jamb or package shelf or trunk rail for that matter. Only places I know of are the cowl and the radiator support. SOME B bodies have them on the drivers side trunk rail under the weatherstripping.

The door VIN (actually callled safety compliance) decals are available reproduction, so they can't be relied upon to prove the cars heritage. same goes with the fender option tags

For where to check E-body numbers click here for text and photos --> http://www.aarta.com/numbers_matching/numbers_matching.html

I wrote it for T/As and AARs specifically but it applies to other E-bodies as well.
