I still have the front end sheet metal off my car and was just doing some "wondering" I finally have the funds saved up for new tires and rims and would like to fit a 10" rim up front. I was "thinking" of cutting the fender where the flair starts and widening it maybe 2" ?
Interested to see if one could or what would be nessesary to fit a 295 or larger up front. Keep in mind I don't have a stock e-body front suspension. I can easily fit 8" rims in there but anything bigger I think it will hit the fender. I have 7" rims up front now with a 1/2" spacer to give more clearance on my lowered tie rod set up. ( I could get away without the spacer but I was just being cautious) I'm not sure yet if I could get the tie rod up into the rim on an 18" rim yet? I could adjust it up but that would mess up my bumpsteer some. Not sure what would be better wider tires at the expense of bumpsteer? I have one of those Percy's wheel tools but haven't played with it yet?
http://www.jegs.com/i/Percys/760/01201/10002/-1I figure if your going to cut a fender..... might as well fit the biggest rim/tire in there you can get? No point in screwing around?
If I do cut and mod a fender I still want to be able to use the wheel well trim....?
Just thinking ..... nothing for sure yet. It's winter and I'm bored.... and my mind is working?
