Who makes the best replacement fender for a 70 Challenger?
« on: January 25, 2014 - 05:33:08 PM »
How makes the best fitting fenders? Hows the body lines match up? Fit and finish?
I'm guessing AMD?

Oh nothing yet. I was considering buying new fenders to modify for bigger rims/tires and putting away my original stock rust free ones? Just considering my options?

How big you wanna go? I got 255's up front and Brian has 275's. Both without fender mods.

I still have the front end sheet metal off my car and was just doing some "wondering" I finally have the funds saved up for new tires and rims and would like to fit a 10" rim up front. I was "thinking" of cutting the fender where the flair starts and widening it maybe 2" ? :dunno: Interested to see if one could or what would be nessesary to fit a 295 or larger up front. Keep in mind I don't have a stock e-body front suspension. I can easily fit 8" rims in there but anything bigger I think it will hit the fender. I have 7" rims up front now with a 1/2" spacer to give more clearance on my lowered tie rod set up. ( I could get away without the spacer but I was just being cautious) I'm not sure yet if I could get the tie rod up into the rim on an 18" rim yet? I could adjust it up but that would mess up my bumpsteer some. Not sure what would be better wider tires at the expense of bumpsteer? I have one of those Percy's wheel tools but haven't played with it yet? http://www.jegs.com/i/Percys/760/01201/10002/-1

I figure if your going to cut a fender..... might as well fit the biggest rim/tire in there you can get? No point in screwing around? :aarg:  If I do cut and mod a fender I still want to be able to use the wheel well trim....?
Just thinking ..... nothing for sure yet. It's winter and I'm bored.... and my mind is working? :thinkerg:

Why not go with fiberglass?  Less money, less weight, easier to modify.   :2cents:

I spoke with AMD a few days ago about the fenders and at the time I was told probably mid March.  I'll call again tomorrow and see if they have a more firm date.  BTW - I am an AMD distributor when you are ready to order.

Amd would be alot of money for something that you will be cutting up.  Those fiberglass seem like a good start you just need to make 1970 marker lights fit as these fenders have newer ones.
