70 Challenger RT Convertible
« on: January 26, 2014 - 08:15:22 PM »
My friend accidently picked up a U code convertible yesterday. Burnt orange ext. / burnt orange interior with black top. AC, ralley dash, 15" rallies, console auto, had luggage rack but a go wing was added instead, numbers matching motor and fender tag. It was very nicely restored 6-8 years ago. I looked at it briefly today but it was dirty from the ride home in the snow last night. The engine is very nicely detailed, the undercarriage has inspection marks,  paint is very nice from what I could see. I gave him an opinion on value but I would like some other opinions. He most likely won't be keeping it and it may be for sale soon. If anyone is interested let me know.

U code Challenger convertibles would not be that common, depending on how nice it is and how it looks overall plus the restoration that was performed, he could be looking at a resale range of around $80K i would say, they really are a rare beast, only cars that top it are a V code or R code car, so its value would start being up their being a convertible too, and i think the Burnt Orange on Burnt Orange works in its favour too. :2thumbs:

I was waiting for that. He went there with a cash and a trailer to pick up a rare corvette. The vette wasn't as nice as promised and he passed on it. As he was getting ready to leave the seller asked him if he liked mopars and pulled the cover of this Challenger Vert.

wow I really dig that.

that's what I would call a happy mistake! If he mistook my garage for his that would be great! I love the interior color.

What kind of Vette was he going to look at?

$55K-$65K

After seeing the pictures and taking into consideration it's a "U" code not an "N" code, I will raise my estimate to $75K-$80K.

That's more in line of what I was thinking when I saw it. My initial estimate was also lower before I saw the quality of the car.

Really don't see it as a "quick seller" though. The colour combo is nice, but not highly desirable in my opinion. :2cents:

Most buyers would prefer red/black, yellow/black, purple/white, etc... and there are lots of those on the market. :grinyes:

I'm going to stick with 65k if he plans to move it. The color combo is pleasing but not  stellar. I'm with Alan about the color combos.

He might be able to get more if he advertises it well and waits??? It is nicely done!
