71 Challenger R/T and Hemi Cuda...
« on: April 11, 2005 - 12:15:37 AM »
Forgot I had registered on this site.  Probably a year or so ago.  Well I got a 71 Challenger R/T Clone that I have been working on for the past 5 years on and off with my father.  I also have the engine and tranny out of my fathers old 70 Hemi Cuda.  He sold the car, but kept the engine and tranny.  I recently found the car and have been  in contact with the owner.  I have also have had about 5-10 other muscle cars and such.  I have also found over 1400 muscle cars rotting in fields and junkyards.  I recently just found a guy with three 72 barracudas, one 70 barracuda and a 67 Barracuda not far from me and another recent one is a 71 440-6 Cuda I found along with a few others.  You never know what you will find until you look.

I registered in 2003, and never made a post... lol... Yeah, I'm always on Moparts, but thats gone downhill lately, so I'm branching out.  My father is older now and doesn't care much, so it is my resposibility now to try to get the body back.  Gotta finish the Challenger first.

Wow, welcome back. So much to tell us all since you've been gone. that steering wheel  is super rare. Forgot all about that option. Seen it once only before. From what you have already said, you definitely have room to do more posts here.

Is the current owner of your dad's Hemi Cuda aware that you have the motor? Did he seem to know what he had, or did he seem willing to sell it back to you to reunite the motor?

Kinda sucks that the car is rusty, but hey, once you get that body, and go through the hard work of restoring....having your dad sit in the passenger seat with you when you first fire up the Hemi.....priceless.

Hey Ryan, welcome back!  Looks like a great project with great potential.  I see purple and green paint....what will be your final color?

Yes, he is aware I have the engine and tranny... My father talked to him and it came out.  Right now he doesn't want to sell it.  He has few garages full of cars.  He has another 70 Hemi Cuda that was built only 2 down the line from my fathers, but is a 4-speed car.

My Challenger I found out was apparently made up of approximately 5 different cars.  So there is 5 different colors on it.  In the end it will be Sub-Lime green.  I just got done redoing the heater box, installed a new heater core.  Just got a few odds and ends to finish up and it is off to the body shop.

Welcome back!

Seems like you have a nice project... and a great story to tell as well! That is really cool about the Hemi car, but does the guy that currently has it just have a bunch of cars that he is not going to restore, or is he one of the large incomed collectors that is trying to restore and collect classic mopars?

And, oh yeah-
I recently just found a guy with three 72 barracudas, one 70 barracuda and a 67 Barracuda not far from me and another recent one is a 71 440-6 Cuda I found along with a few others.

Is that 71 in project condition, for sale, or just sitting? If it was a project that was just sitting I'd be interested in finding out how to get in touch with the owner.

Yes, the 71 Cuda is in good shape, but the guy doesn't want to sell.  No one ever wants to sell.  Here are just a few of the bigger finds.

Another 71 I know of, just a 383 auto car

70 440-6 Superbird

I have pictures of over 1500 pictures of cars I have found.  I have personally found over 40 Road Runners, 50 Chargers, Cudas, Challengers, Superbee's, Superbirds, Darts, Demons, etc...

Man, anyone of those 71's would be fine with me!  How many of them do you know of that are for sale?

Like i said, I could show you pictures that would make you cry.  70 Barracudas cut in half, Coronet R/T's rotting in fields, Crushed Darts and stripped Chargers.  I also have found a wide variety of other muscle cars.  442's, Chevelle SS's, Nova SS's, Shelby Mustangs..., Camaro's, rows of Road Runners, but you guys don't want to see those, they are just too depressing.

Having no life allows me to go out and search for them.  I usually go to a junkyard, ask around, and I go on from there.  Everything has a price probably, but they just tell me no on the cars.  The black 71 Cuda I have been trying to buy for over 7 years now.
