Not Even 3 Days
« on: January 31, 2014 - 11:57:39 AM »
The wife cant fathom why the 71' Barracuda gets a seat in the garage and our new vehicles must endure the weather...  Haven't had plum 3 days yet and she has seen her first snow...  Granted it rarely snows, I may have to invest in a pop-up tent / garage.

I think they call those wheel black vapor or something like that.  Its on my window sticker... They do look pretty slick, I dont even want to change them.  Thanks for the compliment.  Its a bit meaner than I though it would be stock... Test driving is one thing, really driving it is another.  If the weather changes Ill have some stripes on by next week.  Went with the matte black cuda' style, strobe decals.

Does anyone remember who on this site was hand-making charcoal, looking black walnut pistol grip shifters.  I have seen pistol grips all over the internet but if they are still available here I would rather pay someone on the site than to buy from a company.  I cant remember for the life of me who it was... I know the number was limited and the post was about a year ago.

I want to upgrade my front spoiler to the one your car has, looks a lot more agressive in my opinion.

I have to admit I would find it very hard to let that bad boy set out in the weather. Maybe next winter you could fine a winter storage for the '71 and get this VERY SWEET Challenger under a roof.

Almost like clockwork, the weather went to crap again.  Plum is covered in ice this time vice snow. The sad thing is the weather normally doesn't gets like this where I live.

Note to prospective challenger buyers-  In winter conditions

1.) If you have a manual transmission you do not have remote start for the DE-icing and or fogging.
2.) If you are in ice conditions keep in mind that your driver and passenger windows want to come down automatically and if froze this presents a problem.
3.) If you are inpatient you can get the door open with no damage to the seal, but getting the door to close again is another story.
4.) 6.4L on ice and slush is a accident waiting to happen.  Dont rely on traction control whatsoever.

For the most part either have another garage space, a place to store, and or an alternate driver.  My alternate driver until I find a trustworthy beater is a Harley and I wont be riding to work either.  Then there is always car pooling with my wife, but that course of action just seems wrong.

One thing I try to do on my winter beater is to wax the window where it goes up into the seal. Helps to keep it from sticking. I also wax the inside door frame to keep the door seal from sticking. I think it helps, just need to remember to do it before it gets too cold out.

Thanks for that tip. I never thought of that.

While in California training my wife took it on herself to get my decals out of the garage and get them put on for me.  Updated Plum SRT, with side strobes and window tint.

I did have a very hard time with it. Winter is gone here for now, but I will most likely store the Barracuda next winter to keep this thing out of the elements.
