Check your steering column for a barrel connection on it.  It may be for the light time delay option that lights up at the key hole.  It is hard to tell which yellow wire you speak of without a pic.

don't know how else to describe it, its the only yellow wire in the interior that has a bulb on the end of it.

The interior is a pretty large area, where abouts in the interior?
The steering column as mentioned? in the dash above the heater controls ?

Do you have a picture ?

It may be the bulb that goes on the right side of the light bar above the gauges.  There is one small square where a bulb mounts for the lighting delay.  Try to get a pic so we can help or it is just a guessing game.   Does it work?  Is it self grounding or does it have to be attached to be grounded?  If it works, what makes it come on; light switch, when a door opens, etc. ?

Have you checked your glove box?  if you have the interior light package, you should have a light there.

Car is in the paint shop currently, should get it back this weekendor first of next week and will take a pic. The wire originates under the dash close to the steering column and is at least 3-4 foot long. it's long enough to reach to the passenger side of the car which makes me wonder if it could be for the glovebox?
