    HA!! YES !  I get more ideas and change ideas from this web site than anything else. I also like this site better than some of the bigger ones because its a closer knit group of folks. Very little ego driven "look what I got" attitude. Just folks who love Cudas and Challengers who share cool stuff.

    Nothing of quality except my imagination...
    A very old and partially broken Harbor Freight 3 in 1 brake, shear and role. Used that for the sweep. For the tighter side roll I clamped a pipe over it and bent plate around it.
    All pieces are tack welded together with tabs on back side. All mounting holes utilize factory locations.
    All shapes were traced with cardboard templates and cut out by hand.

    Just gotta make sure I like the holes I end up with. Kuz I will not be making another one...

    We have released a new VHX application this week, fitting the 1970-74 Dodge Challenger and Plymouth ‘Cuda with the Rallye dash.
    This 6-gauge system includes a new, fully-machined rear gauge housing, attaching directly to the stock metal dash framework, then overlaid by the stock bezel.
    Our normal color schemes of Silver Alloy/Black Alloy face styles while Red, White or Blue backlight options exist.
     
    Limited pre-production quantities are currently on hand, with normal production quantities available mid-late July.
    The VHX-70D-CLG system sells for $995, including new sending units for oil pressure, water temperature and speed.

    So... How cool is this... Dakota is on it... sort of. I don't know what gauge styles you guys bought, but these are $1000 of ugly. The mounting system is great. Perfect solution to mounting aftermarket gauges,but..... this only comes as a complete solid unit. I just called and talked to them thinking I could buy everything but the gauges and control module. Mount my gauges and be good. NO !!!!!! no separate parts sold. So now what. Use this by spending $1000 and then take it apart for the housing? Or use what I have??? Can't win. I'd sell off my gauges and buy this, but lets face it. Those gauges look terrible in all variations.....Maybe they will offer a better looking set of gauges with more options. I can spend more time describing what I don't like about them, but I'm just ....... :stomp: :stomp:

    I don't think they are ugly, however I think they are not for everyone. I am sticking with my Speedhut gauges and will endeavor to make the mounting system when I get some color on the car.

    Probably came out because I stop at their display every June on the hot rod power tour and ask "why don't you make stuff for an E-body Mopar?"

     From what I've seen of the Dakota digital gauges in the past, they use one master control unit that accepts all of the sensor inputs and outputs go to individual stepper motors for the gauges. I'm assuming that all of these gauges are set up the same and will not work to drive other type gauges like speed hut or auto meter.

    I have no interest in their electronic setup. I'm sure it's just wonderful. I have already purchased gauges the are pretty great looking and suit my needs. I just want the housing they use to mount my gauges. My wiring is already hooked up. My mounting system could be better and my turn signal bulbs are going to be difficult.

    Wow! Another option for me, nice. Not that ugly, but I with Speedhut you can kinda get them more to your liking.
    Why didn't they make them look like stock...

    Since I'm probably a year away from gauges now, I have time to think about my options.

     :iagree:  I like my speedhut gauges better( design your own faces), pricing is similar. It's great to have options /competition . Nice to see new products for our Mopars!  :2thumbs:

    Again, cudos to Dakota for making a nice attempt at a gauge package with lots of modern extras, but just maybe they should of asked opinions to the styling and give options that would attract more buyers.The pointer center looks like a screw head, The gray face with the darker gray border isn't attractive either. My speedhut gauges even let you add a logo and choose pointer and gauge layout. I just think for $1K they could offer more options since they build them themselves. Maybe they will someday, but they don't look good to me, so I don't see me paying a grand for something that doesn't look good. I would sell off the speedhut's and go with this setup ig the gauges looked better and could be somewhat customized to my taste. Lets face it, it just a gauge face. How hard can it be? :dunno:

    Me too and I will try and design it to be replicated. I have looked at and the challenge will be determining whether or not to trim the bezel square (they are at angles in the back) or make some type of adapter. Also, the spacing and positioning are a bit critical but I intend to play with it. Ideally I want each gauge to be able to be removed individually but that might not work out. I need to get paint on the car and then onto other things.
