Green top 1970 Challenger resto

Buckley isn't that far from me in Cheyenne, I have a friend stationed there.

I've started the conversion on the steering column to console shift, I need to repaint it not happy the way the color turned out. I ask noticed that my column was black even though the interior is green. I've seen car with green interior with green columns too.......

New parts, blasted and painted, but going to have to paint again.....

Yea there's always a bit of confusion over which coloured interiors got coloured columns vs black columns. Some speculate it has to do with a rally dash vs a standard dash.

FYI- Not that it really matters, but the new column parts you chose are for 1971 -74.
1970 used a unique one year only column.

Maybe you will be up and running by the time I get back and we can meet up. It will be August time frame so the driving weather should be nice. Should probably shoot for somewhere closer to my side of the boarder though...not that Cheyenne isnt a vacation hotspot

Yeah I'm not too picky on the exact year stuff. She's gonna be a driver not at barrett-jackson!! lol I would lean more towards Denver area!! lol

I would shoot it Green like the interior, but make sure it is a suede Green or a satin Green, do not do it in a shiny Green.

It's a Satin matte finish laquer was what the factory originally used.

I bought a can of the green interior paint to do my plastics, it actually turned out great and I plan on buying more to do the rest. I'll see if that will work on the metal.

I used "HERB'S" interior paints on steel before with excellent results

That looks good! I took a look in the car and the bottom of the dash area is black so I decided to stay with the black. I just thought it would look weird. I'll post pics soon of it back together.

Here it is with the painted center section. The green pops big time now hopefully it will match the interior!!

That doesn't look too bad, but looking at the Green on that horn pad would sway me big time to paint the column Green now, it would look awesome in my opinion. But it does look alright like that, we need to see it in the car to see how it looks in its enviroment now

What type of paint did you use?

On steering columns, I would suggest a paint that's not from a can.

Rattle can paint isn't durable enough like when keys sway back and forth and rub on the column.

Just mask it up as a unit and take out the electrical stuff you need out of the way and give it a scuff with a scotch brite and snot that thing Green, the horn pad really looks awesome and the column is screaming out for Green now too, Use a 2 pack single stage and with a low gloss, do not go flat, but more towards a satin finish, Green Green Green, yes please.
