Those are not factory seat covers. They look like a custom version of the factory leather seats. When you ordered leather seats, I believe you got carpet on the door panels much like an SE.....unless of course your car is an SE.

I agree they don't look factory. Some type of aftermarket. The floor mats say T.A. so  I assume its not an SE.

now i'm wondering if the seat frames are e-body or not. can't see the seat latch or  adjuster.

Looks like the 6-way manual seat adjuster.

They are not "completely incorrect" for a 1970 T/A Challenger.

The Leather seats were standard on the SE's and an option on T/A's as well as R/T's.

Not too many T/A's got leather interior, but it was available.

You could get away with new leather covers with the correct patteren and keep the carpet on the door panels.

OR

Replace the door panels and get the standard vinyl seat covers and foam.
I would buy a set of core seats and sell the ones currently in the car for a decent buck to help off-set the cost of the new parts.

Does anybody have a photo of the optional 1970 leather covers to compare?

I just posted a picture of the 1970 leather covers....

Yours are 100% custom made and they copy nothing that was ever available from Chrysler

  Yup...The cloth seats are another option. If you're just going to recover your seats, then the existing foams will work no problem.
I think the black interior picture you just posted is also somebodies "homemade version" not enough verticle ribs.
