Well bad news hits... Car did not get picked up to bring home last week. The Sunday before he was running the car to get the temperature up to see if the fans would kick on. They did. On and off 2 times and then the car mysteriously died. Wouldn't crank or start. After jump boxes, starter replacement and trying to turn the flywheel with a pry bar it was discovered that the engine had locked up while idling. Further investigation brought these pics:

Looks as though the engine from the rear impact wreck has destroyed the center main bearing (thrust bearing) and locked up the engine. With closer look he has now noticed hairline cracks in the bell-housing where the bolts go through to the block. So....short block is toast and trans is questionable.
Good news (hard to believe), I was able to get in touch with the guy I bought the engine and trans from back in Oct of 2013 and he was understanding to the problem. He actually lives about 10 minutes from where the car is in Michigan. I asked if he wanted to see the damage and he said he didn't want any bad Karma so he just believes what I told him. He said if I was dishonest with him it would come back and bite me anyway, That is how he lives his life and he doesn't want any unhappy dealings. So we worked out an agreeable amount and he sent it to me within a few days (cash). I have since ordered a new mopar short block and am looking for a low mileage NAG1 in the Michigan area. Got the engine ordered from Mancini Racing and Randy at Bouchelon suggested not even attempting to fix the old motor. He said there is a good possibility the block is busted around the crank journal web. You will end up with problems sooner or later. He suggested melting it down and making patio furniture out of the old block. That won't happen because mother Mopar wants the old short block as a core, even though they are selling me a brand new 2015 short block (i don't really understand the logic). Core charge is $800. They can have it for that. Now we are waiting for the new shortblock to get in at Mancini's. When I ordered it there were 4 available, but when Mancini finally ordered it from Mopar, they were gone. There are 17 in the pipeline so It should be in within a couple of weeks. Then it gets switched and maybe my car will come back to Missouri to stay. In the meantime I am loaded with mopar convertibles. I have 3 although this one is the keeper. I recently got a 70 Challenger that needs paint. It is in line at the paint shop unless someone buys it as is. It could be my summer cruiser if I get it painted in time.

I think I saw the convertible you are talking about on craigslist?  Black 'vert with some primer down the side?  I remember seeing "Lotsapins" or some variation in the ad or reply email or somethin and thought "wonder if its the same guy from the forum with the 392 build"

Great work thus far! Love the concept of what you are doing. We have talked about this at work to a great extent.
color me impressed at your engineering skill in creating this conglomeration of technology.

I'm curious to know how the Charger console working out?
I know it gives you a lot of feature content- cupholders, covered storage, a functional armrest...
Just curious to know if  you considered a modern Challenger console to keep with the theme?

Thanks, but we have to use the shifter that I already have in the car. Changing the console would look awesome, but not sure if the shifter is compatible with the programming already done.
The console is in and mounted, but far from finished. I will look into it further when the car comes back.

Trying a console from a 2011 Charger. It will need some serious mods to the front area to get it under the dash and finish it somehow. This will leave room for some stereo stuff. The sides from the front will have to be made, but I think it will all work out. Hoping to get some speakers in the new sides also. Either way I think this console will be a better choice than leaving the original. Here are some pics....

Do you have the hot and cold beverage holders in that 2011 console? If not they would make for a nice addition to your console especially the cooler part, I'm trying to figure out how to add them to my car also..

New short block finally came in from mother mopar and it got picked up Thursday. They are going to change it over this week on tuesday evening. He already has the motor out. Came with head gaskets, and a rear seal. Have to get the rest of the gaskets Monday. Have a new oil pump also. Hopefully it will go fast and I can get the car picked up and brought home soon.  :cooldancing:

He hasn't had much time to work on the car with his work schedule. Not to mention it has to be coordinated with Rick  the chrysler tech that is doing the short block swap. Here is a little progress done this week.

On another note , the other convertible Challenger is in paint prison for a couple of weeks and its slowly coming along. The Satellite Convert sold and is now in Texas.  :cooldancing:

Gauges are awesome, exactly what I was looking for. too bad I spent a crap load of money autometer stuff and then made a new bezel, that said I think I am going Speed Hut anyway, they just look too good.
